Posts: 137 | Been working on a couple of lures, but after missing a big fish on a tippy darter a couple of weeks ago, I tried something out with an extra one I had. Well, one of many I had. Not a repaint really, more of a bid of disco fever. Pain in the arse, but I wanted to get a multi flash look, kinda like holographic baits, but x 10. I also was trying to make a muskie bait with the flash of some of lucky crafts smaller jerkbaits, that have the awesome color, american shad. I don't know what to call this color on a muskie bait, maybe rhinestone cowboy? But the flash out in the sun is unbelievable. Can't wait to try it out. Next maybe a flashy grandma..... Posts: 137 | Threw it this weekend, and it was every bit as bright as I thought it would be. It was funny because we could see it from 40 feet away and it wasn't even sunny out. Didn't catch anything on it, but it was good to see that the action of the tippy darter didn't change. Love them baits, but can't wait to hook one up on the "liza minelli" version. The epoxy went on just fine tacklebooty. I didn't turn the lure, because there were a lot of little pockets that I wanted to make sure got filled when I coated it. I overlapped the sequins towards the back, like scales would be. Then I hung it from the tail and coated it from tail to nose, so all the gaps got filled. Then I just kept recoating it in the opposite direction each time so that there wouldn't be a buildup on the front or back end of the lure that would change the way the bait worked. Worked out just fine. The bait has a ton of flash, and almost always sparkles, but it still has most of it's flash on one plane, so it sends out a blinding flash when it is angled just so. I think that I need to try doing this on a curved bait so that the flash is ever present. We'll see. | ||
