I've got a maple glide bait that has some birds eyes in it that I would really like to incorporate into the finish of the lure.  What would you guys recommend that I seal the grain with before coating in epoxy.  I plan to do some limited painting over the epoxy while maintaining some elements of the wood grain.

Thanks
Swede

tung oil. wipe it on, give it a minute, wipe off the excess and let it dry. you can clearcoat over it then with whatever you like.
