| OK here goes,
Over the holidays a received $140 worth of Galyans gift certificates. Obviously the only thing I would use it for was a St. Croix. After talking to the clueless people at Galyans I found out they will not be getting the 8ft for a long time. My dilemma is should I go ahead with the 7'6" Premier Musky or is the 8' much more worth it to wait? Want some input from some 7'6" guys and 8' guys (rod length not person height)..Pros and Cons of both... Or any alternative suggestions. Thanks guys.
BTW- Rob Myers from St. Croix...Any way you can get a 8' to Galyans for me?[]

| I've got a couple of each. I find that the 7'6" rod is very well suited for jerks/gliders etc while the 8'er is better suited for more all around applications but can still handle jerks and gliders. The 8'er is nice for topwaters and I even use it for bucktails and spinnerbaits. If I could only have 1....I'd wait for the 8.

| If I had to choose just one, I would opt for the 8' as well. Like Beav said, it's more all purpose, cranks, jerks, bucks, topwater. I own 2-7'6" and 2-8' in the graphite St.Croix rods. I use them exactly as Beav does, shorter for jerks/glides, longer for hair/topwater. If need be, you can still get the job done with an 8' for all applications.
Sorry, don't have a lot to add to Beav's reply, we think alike.[] |

| Phil,
I would get one there ASAP, but I know that the warehouse bin is empty as we speak. Hopefully the wait won't be too long. I would make sure that the Galyan's you patronize has one on order for you.

| Rob,
Half the people at Galyans told me I could order them, and half told me they couldn't. Kind of puts me at ease knowing I can't get them anywhere right now. Thanks for your help. I am definately going with the 8ft just going to be hard waiting it out.

| My $.02...spend an extra $60 and get a Loomis....lifetime warranty and a higher quality rod than the Premier series. Get one of the 7'7" Heavy or MH bucktail rods, or the 7'10" Trolling rod. Lighter, more sensitive, and in 3 years, when you start to have problems with it, Loomis will take care of you, whereas the Premier series only has a 2 year warranty.

| Beav,
All those in favor of Beave say Aye..... AYE!
Slamr, I don't think Galyans carries Loomis.

| I will have to check it out then, but I am so loyal to St. Croix. What to do, what to do.

| St.Croix is a great company, and they make great rods...but they will only be loyal to you on a Premier for 2 years. After that, you're on your own. They'll still fix the rod, but you will pay. Loomis makes a better standard rod than the Premiers (in my not so humble opinion) but you do pay for it, but you do get the warranty.
