Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | I was just got off the phone with a client and he could not believe muskie fishermen fished all the way until they can't. I laughed and told him I fish until I can't find open water with muskies or muskie fishing season ends. When was your last outing and where? Mine was the last day of the 2007 season on Pewaukee Lake with Mike Phelps. We got a 37-incher just as the day was ending. Wow was it cold that day. I will post a good picture from a year ago busting ice to get out. Attachments ---------------- almostdone5x3r.jpg (27KB - 141 downloads)

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | Last day for me on the water was the Sunday the week the season ended. Esoxlazer and I got a 40 with litterally as we were packing up for the year and had a shot at one other smaller fish on an 8. That was a brutal last few days of the season. Friday was a whopping 15 degrees when we hit the water. Man, I can't wait for some open water.

Last time out was our club IN outing mid November and my last fish of 2007 was a 36.5 on a sucker. Hitting KY in a couple of weeks and looking forward to it!

i fish closing day (Nov 30th) every year, it's a personal holiday of sorts. we break ice more years than not. this year closing weekend found us trolling in below zero wind chills over 29 degree water temps. yep, it was c-o-l-d...

Posts: 1764 Location: Ogden, Ut | My last day on the water in '07 was Dec. 14. Got a 42"er and whereas I probably still had open water for a couple more days, it snowed over a foot that night. Since they don't plow the ramp/parking lot, I decided not to take my chances and just called it a good year after that fish. And it was. S. The '08 season should start for me sometime in latter March.

Posts: 34 | My last day was the last Sunday, (11-25-07), of the season. It was 20 degrees when I launched in the morning. There were 20 - 30 mph winds also. The pay off was great though. I caught a fat 49.5"er right at sunset. It was a great way to end the season, but after that I wanted to take off work the rest of the week to fish. This year I will plan ahead for those last couple days of the season. Greg

Posts: 1996 Location: Pelican Lake/Three Lakes Chain | My last day last year was earlier than most any I can remember, November 11th. After that I had an uncontrollable urge to climb trees and look for deer! Edited by nwild 2/22/2008 8:14 AM

Posts: 714 Location: Rhinelander, WI | We used to make an annual last day of the season trip. On November 30th here in Northern WI there where a couple times where we drove by guys ice fishing in Minocqua on our way to Trout Lake with the boat. Hooked into a monster once when it was the only lake still open. Had better success when it was a little warmer and we could fish local waters with the lakes freezing around us, on that last day. Couple multiple fish days, and we once saw what both Oneida Esox and I believe is the biggest Wisconsin fish we have ever seen on a last day of the year trip. However now that we are older and have more expensive boats, it’s harder to pull the trigger on those ice breaking trips. Plus my normal last day partner has got back into bow hunting, he should change is moniker to Oneida Deersox. Nail A Pig! Mike

cband - 2/22/2008 7:58 AM Still fishing here in Pa. Here are a couple fish from two weeks ago. cband: A fellow PAer here. I was looking at your photos, the background, and trying to figure out where you were fishing. Couldn't. Would you enlighten? And no, I'm not going to go rushing out there.

Posts: 1310 Location: Washington, PA | I fish until archery season starts, which is the first week of October. Everyone tells me that I'm missing the best time to fish, but there isn't much keeping me out of a tree that time of year.

Posts: 159 Location: Stevens Point, WI | Same as Norm, deer hunting put a glitch on the musky fishing, but only for a bit. Last day Nov. 27th, one 38 incher on the suick. Wasn't expecting to get bit, so i had a heck of a time getting my frozen reel to freespool when she hit on the figure 8. Bad month in November for me, only a few fish, but ended it right anyway.

Posts: 38 Location: Port Washington, WI | Two days before Thanksgiving on Pewaukee was the last day for me I think. Winterized the boat the next day and spent the rest of the season catching deer.

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | Like others here have posted, I fish until the hunting seasons start. And that is when I'm back home in Montana so not much opportunity to fish muskies there. I have muskie fished in late fall, but tracking big game in the high country is as addictive as any pursuit I've encountered. 4 months of muskies and 2 months of hunting seems like the perfect split. Posts: 686 Location: Tomahawk, Wisconsin | They laugh at me every year as I am the last guy to bring in his boat to get winterized, I caught a 48.5 my last trip of the year on one of J. Sloans little fish ponds, that was after a few blank trips to the same pond!! But a spot is a spot and sooner or later.......................................................
