Posts: 357 Location: Long Prairie, Minnesota | Has anyone been using the new Black bladed over black hair bucktails? I know that the Musky Mayhem crew was using them on their new DVD, and LLungen has a new line of Black on Black bucktails for this year. So is it just the vibration moreso than the flash? I know that black will give off more of a silhoutte, but won't having black blades eliminate what flash there would be?

Posts: 2753 Location: Mauston, Wisconsin | Bret- I just picked up a black on black Spanky Baits inline. The black nickel blades will definitely produce flash. See this MF Milwaukee Muskie Show Loot thread for a photo -> http://muskie.outdoorsfirst.com/board/forums/thread-view.asp?tid=40... BTW- ostdc also bought the twin to mine, or I bought the twin to his Have fun! Al

Posts: 185 Location: Pound, WI | I saw this first last year at the Green Bay Fishing Show at the Beast Teaser booth and I wanted one then, but I didn't buy one. Then I fished with the spankey baits last fall and really liked them and saw the black/black in their booth and picked it up. I'll probably also pick up the single blade from Beast Teaser in Green Bay in March. Brian

Posts: 2691 Location: Pewaukee, Wisconsin | Llungen night bite bucktails in the DC10 and DC8 both worked great last year for me. Black on Black rocks at night. The Reefer is also made in the "Night Bite" series. I took one up north on my vacation last year and scored a 50-incher on it three hours into my trip. I did score on a MOJO Double X also that trip. Both make great baits. What ever you prefer as far as bait makers is personal choice. I am sticking with Llungen because Kieth makes a great bait and custom builds them for people. I order and he delivers. Great service and guy.

I used the Black/Black Spanky Baits 11" Fireball (mentioned earlier in the thread) and it was a great producer in my boat last year. The black nickel (smoke) blades and the black and halo-black skirt looks awesome. Not just to me, the fish seem to like it, too. Shhh... don't tell anyone on Mille Lacs, everyone else is throwing nickel/blue or pink/pink

Is it pure action or is it informational?
Has anyone been using the new Black bladed over black hair bucktails? Posts: 357 Location: Long Prairie, Minnesota | GMAC: I really like the Musky Mayhem video. It is mostly action with tips here and there. I wouldn't exactly classify it as purely educational, but a very good DVD nonetheless.

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | I sell a lot of black on black bucktails but don't use many myself. I do when I night fish but I only night fish maybe 1 or 2 times a year...

Posts: 35 | I have never used Black/Black for muskies, but I have used it for stream trout and smallmouth. I don't use it often, but it does work very well in different colored waters. For trout I throw Roostertails and for the smallmouth I use some older Mepps Aglias. I was surprised at how well the color works in darker water.

Posts: 3240 Location: Racine, Wi | Black on black is an excellent color in a tail. Been using that color for a looooong time. I started out when I was younger throwing Mepps Musky Killers in that color, then started tying my own giant tails in that color at the request of a guide up in Mani. He did very well on those. (Thanks Ralph!) There are definitely lakes that they tear them up, and not just at night. Very underrated color.

Posts: 17 | Figure 8 has offered black/black as a standard color for about 5 years now. It's more than a trend - the results are great. Scott Karow FIGURE 8 Lure Co.

Location: Sun Prairie, WI | Here is a quote from Gerry Carroll upon receiving my order a couple months ago which included the black/black Gerry Girl bucktail..."I think you'll find the black/black combo a real killer. You should see some of the photos of 50+ inchers that my customers have sent to me using that combo." It's just a killer looking bait too! I can't wait to launch it!

Posts: 4053 Location: Land of the Musky | Not a bucktail but in Canada the resort I go to the owner swears by non-gloss all black Suicks. He says they by far catch him the most fish.
