Posts: 300 Location: Minocqua, WI | I've got 2 Garcia's that need some servicing and fixin'. At the moment and to the best of my knowledge they need new drag systems, and washers (at least). Otherwise I think they function well enough. I know Rollies has a professional come to the store and he picks up the reels from there and brings them down to his very own shop located somewhere south. (I forgot who this guy is and his web address - sad thing is that I spoke with him at length at the Chicago show, and don't remember who it is!!!!! %#@%$). I'm planning on bringing the reels in for fixin' on first weekend of May and won't be able to pick them up until mid to late-May. This would be my first time having someone besides me fixing my own reels. If anyone here has used this service offered thru Rollie & Helen's, on average how much does a drag fixin' job cost? Is credit card needed, or can I just do it with cash? haha thanks.

Posts: 1184 Location: Iowa Great Lakes | Send them to Pure Fishing, my partner has a couple Garcias and has them fixed there a couple times a year when they go down. http://www.purefishing.com/

Posts: 300 Location: Minocqua, WI | Shaley, thanks for the idea, but my preference is with Rollies. The shop is less than 5mins from my house that is up north and I've got my trust and loyalty with them. But yeah, to anyone else. Some info regarding this subject would be outstanding! Thanks!

Posts: 663 | Just a clarification since I work at R&H and hope this will help. It is indeed Chuck Brod who works with us on reel repair, gear conversions, etc. We pretty much act as a dropoff/pickup location for him. You can bring your reels into the shop where we will fill out a claim tag with the description of the work you want done. Chuck picks up the stuff from us and takes them back to his shop where the actual work is performed. When it's done he brings it back into R&H for you to pick up. If you have specific questions or need estimates on the work that you want done you can leave a note on the claim check for Chuck to call you. The financial end of things is a transaction between you and Sportsman's Repair.

Posts: 663 | During this time of the year Chuck only picks up on an infrequent basis. During the season it's probably about a week and a half to two weeks turn. You can contact Chuck at Sportsman's Repair for other options that might be quicker. The contact info is phone 715-693-6634 or e-mail: [email protected].

Chuck Brod is the man! I send all my stuff to him during the off-season. I'm not very disciplined about taking proper care of reels so I leave it to a pro. Chuck has always been good to work with and everything is in tip-top shape when I get it back.
