Location: Ogden, Ut | Depending on where you live and what you consider to be 'somewhere in your area', you could talk to the local fishery manager and see if he or she may entertain the possibility of starting a population nearby. If there's support there, you have a chance to get the ball rolling.

Location: Minnetonka | I lived in Cali for 2 years... in between my muskie trips back to MN, I played Rapala Pro Fishing. Yes indeed... 'skies on Pond and Tonka all day.
Eventually I moved back... for the love of the muskie.
I'm with Steve, move if you truly love fishing muskies.

| At least make a commitment to get in your car/truck and drive to them. The nearest quality muskie fishing for us in east-central Illinois is about 1.25-1.5 hours away, but we make the drive A LOT each year. Suck it up, set aside "gas money" funds, and find a way to make it happen! |

| Have you tried the Susquehanna River? The Juniata? Check out the PA Fish and Boat Commission site under fish stocking, warm water species. |

Location: Washington, PA | Lot's of muskie water in PA. I would drive Northeast for weekends. A large percentage of muskie fisherman find it normal to drive a few hours to fish muskies.
Other than that, it may be a tough job in PA to get more stockings, because of a change of focus from the PFBC to stock more fish in a smaller amount of water. |

| I went to school college at Penn State and encountered the same problem that you're having. If you don't want to flyfish for trout in the limestone streams that made the place famous you're pretty much gonna have to settle on driving. Raystown Lake has muskies. Apparently you know they're in Bald Eagle. Juniata River, Susquehanna, and some other lakes if you check the fish comm page and go to list of PA fishes:musky it'll give you some good ideas. Mine was graduate and move home where there's more muskies than trout! Good Luck |
