Location: Yahara River Chain | Here at a local sport shop they have a few Weagles. Some of the tie eyes are verticle and some are horizontal. Why is that???
Also how can you tell a Wabull vs a Weagle as they are not in packaging? Must you go to the minnow tank and wet them to find out??? |

Wabulls are gliders, weigh more
Screw eyes don't matter, vertical or horizonal, it doesn't affect the action either way. |

| Might have to respectfully disagree on this one. The screweye is horizontal on the Weagle and vertical on the Wabull. We found the horizontal screweye gave the bait better side to side action. Weagles will work with a vertical screweye but weren't designed that way. Part of the reason the Wabull is so adept at changing depths, is the position of the screweye, vertical. Steve |

So if I have older Weagles and Wabulls, with the screw eye not horiz/vert like you said, would you suggest giving them 1/2 turn and making that adjustment? Hey Baldy, you out there?

| i've played around with changing the front screw eye on both Weagles and Wabulls.
changing the Weagle from horizontal (-) to vertical (I) didn't have a big impact for me. once in awhile it would nose down a bit, so i leave it horizontal to keep it swooshing the easiest possible.
changing the Wabull from vertical (I) to horizontal (-) had a much bigger impact. if placed horizontal, the Wabull tended to become less erratic, with less up and down action and became more hypnotic/boring. i much prefer it's erratic nature, so i leave it vertical.
they come from Mojo like that: Weagle horizontal, Wabull vertical.

| For me its not that cut/dried. I put each bait to the way I like the action and it seems everyone I have is different. Some even work awesome with the eye at a 45 deg. angle or 3 to 4 split rings to change the action. These are great baits that do seem to snag better then average fish. |

| As a former owner of the bait under 2 different companies(LOL X1000), I was just posting about the design. That's the way they've ALWAYS been made. Pre/post white dot head, that was the only way to tell them apart. Maple was heavy! Ahh the memories. Steve |

Location: Elko - Lake Vermilion | Adding a split ring gives both lures a little bit more erratic movement, but does anyone use 2-3 split rings ? and if so does this cause a "weak link" when hooked into a big fiesty fish ?

That's right. Now, there is a chance that some of my screw eye helpers got confused, but this is how they are built.
Color patterns are another way to tell them apart. Besides perch, there are no common colors between the baits.
Honestly, I have never changed the position of the screw eye on any of the baits I fish...never had to. This is how they were built, so that is how I kept it. I have changed a few things in the process, but screw eye position is not one of them. |

Location: The Yahara Chain | Gerard the weight difference between the two is substantial. Pick them up and it is obvious which is which.
I purchased a Weagle at Dorn's last fall and when I was checking out was told," That's not a floater". After explaining the weight difference I was again told that I was wrong and those baits all sink. So I put it in the aquarium and she floated. |
