I am doubting whether to purchase some Hooker shads or a mix of tuff shads and hooker shads. The thing is I once had (and lost it on a snag while trolling) a wooden tuff shad but I never tried the hooker shads. Does anybody have experience with both of these shad style crankbaits? I intend to use them more for casting from a belly boat for pike, rather than trolling.

I like the Hooker shads alot. Never casted with them, only trolled. Buy a mix of both. Hookers have 2 dirrent size lips to cover different depths.

Both are great batis, but totally different action/thump. The hookers have a tighter wobble, don't pull as hard, and don't have the "Thump" the Tuff Shads have. Both are great running baits. Lots of fish on both.

I think Chasin described the differences perfectly,,,for whatever reason I only cast the G&M shads and only troll the Tuff shads. My favorite casting for G&M Shads is in the spring fishing breaks if no action is to be had shallow. It seems the deep GM Shad gets depth on the cast faster than similar style cranks
