| I started using the standard Abu power handles on a few reels (6500 , Millionaire , St. Croix) They were the ones with the black paddle. They were nice, but had one paddle break off and another paddle got loose and sloppy. Ordered a couple from Abu, and they sent me a couple that had a grey paddle and were a little longer. They were nice but could not handle the torque involved when setting the hook while ripping Dawgs and cranks, they would bend rather easy. SO, Is there another Abu power handle that fits a 6500 that is a little beefier ? How about the ones with the rounder, rubber paddle. I thnk they may be on 7000's.
I have a couple Luna's, and those handles are great, but not quite ready to buy 4 or 5 more of them as even the Luna's have been in the shop each year.

Location: London, England | Nature of the beast with them unfortunately. If you use them enough the riveted handle wears loose. There is a Japanese handle which Hatteras used to sell that's got the handle attached strongly, like the 7000 handle, but unfortunately the handle arm is all slimline and cut away, so it bends!
Don't know if the new chunky handled power handles will fit the older reels, or if they're any better made, but might be worth a look? |

Location: Latitude 41.3016 Longitude 88.6160 | The best Power Handle for ABU 5500 - 6600 is the Shimano Trinidad TN12 balanced power handle, you will not bend that handle, also it has a thick rubber paddle with 2 bearings !! This handle will fit Calcutta 400TE, Luna 203,253,300, and ABU 5500-6600 reels. U can get the handle from Shimano parts. U also need to get the nut washer and screw with the power handle. I have put that P/H on over 50 reels and not one problem. I wish the new P/H the one with the rubber paddle from ABU wasn't riveted on. PS on the newer ABU reels that have the new longer star drag wheels, U will have to get the older style star drag wheel, look on ebay, U can get one for under $4.00.
