i've painted lures for years but its an expensive and messy business with the brushes and clean up. the last couple years i've been embarrasing my wife by going through the check out lines with nail polish. wait for a markdown on this stuff and you'll find they all have their own brush, come in an infinate amount of colors, including speckled clear coat to shine up those old favorites. they also dry in minutes so you can change colors on that lure in the field. to change again just use remover and a paper towel. its easier to get the dust off a picture of two grins than fins![:0]

I used to use nail polish to repair the old rapalas when the little plastic strip came off of the bottom. Great tip!! Wal Mart, here I come.[:sun:]

I keep an old bottle of nail polish in my boat to repair bucktail threads that come loose. Paint over the thread and you are back in business. Stuff is better than glue.

Good luck, Murph

I guess that there are no secrets left in musky fishing. Now everyone knows about the nailpolish trick. You can make some great glitter baits with this stuff. Works good on spinner and buctail blades also. Be carefull though, sometimes the polish dissolves the original paint and you have a mess.

Plus I just love the looks from the teenage girls that work the cosmetics dept. Just smile and wink at them and let them wonder. Silly but's it's good for a laugh.[]

I hate to brag, but with a teenage daughter in the house, I have access to a rainbow of nailpolish colors. Dark, light, screaming bright, lotsa glitter, you name it. All my bucktails' threads are painted with the stuff.

To take a loooong step further - the other day I was checking out a leftover box/bottle of her hair dye - deep brown and very shiney. It struck me that it was a great color for a brass/natural brown bucktail, perfect for clear water presentations, eh? [;)] Next winter, come late February or so, I may give it a shot.
