| So I'm a little new to airbrushing and I need some help because I dont have a clue. I bought a cheap airbrush that runs on propel, it took me 3 seconds to figure out this is way better than a spray bomb but I cant get detailed enough work so I returned it. I am ordering an Iwata Eclipse brush but thought I could get away with a compressor from Harbor Freight. It is designed for airbrushing and is oilless, it says it has a regulator but it isnt adjustable and will only run between 55 and 42 psi, it runs for 3 seconds before it turns on and fills back up to 55. Can someone confirm that this cant be right? I would assume you need to spray at way lower pressures than that. By the way the airbrush that came with the compressor was broke right out of the box. OK, lesson leared shame on me for thinking I can get away with cheap $hit and get quality results. My real question is, I have a good 2 hp 5 gallon compressor but it isnt oilless. If I put a decent filter on it and a good regulator will I be able to spray with it or should I just order a good one from Iwata with my brush? I will be spraying water based acrilic paints, does the compressor need to be oilless? My other option would be to keep the Harbor Freight compressor and put an adjustable regulator on it but I cant believe how often that thing runs, do your compressors run constantly? Thanks for any opinions offered, I need all the advise I can get. I spent about 6 hours yesterday searching this sight on lure building and learned a ton, I'm just looking forward to getting all my eqipment set up and getting started. John  | |||
