So how does one tie flashabo to one of those little colars? Do you just grab a bunch and start tying it on?
Thanks
Chris

You need to make sure to "load" it properly. That is, there needs to be an even amount of material on all side of the coil. You're good when you can just pick it up, put it on the coil, look at it and see that it's evenly distributed around the coil. I take about half the material and put it on half the coil, then the other half of the flash and put it on the other side. If you don't load properly the material will not "puff" well in the water (i.e. too much of the hook is exposed, puffing occurs on one side of bait... looks totally goofy).

I've never tied onto a "collar" per se (I think you're talking about the ones Llungen uses on their DC-10s, the collars the silicon is affixed to), just coils. Collars would probably work just fine, might even add a little weight up front.

Esox has it nailed, alot depends on the type of material (limper vs. stiffer), ive noticed that it still works pretty well even if it isnt perfect. A bucktail coil definately helps. If the material is really limp, you can wet it down, lightly, which will help hold it together and make it easier to work with and tie.
