winning the "team of the year" on any major tourney trail is an incredible accomplishment, requiring consistency in producing fish under pressure.
congratulations to everyone who pulled it off this year!

recognizing that it's a best-of-the-best kind of choice:
- which "team of the year" accomplishment do you think is the most challenging?
- WHY?

Wisconsin Muskie Tour (WMT) "Lapp Trophy" ($5000 prize)
http://www.wmtseries.com/lapp2007.shtml
Neil Barnett/Bill Hill
WMT had 16 1-day events, 4 2-day events, and a 2-day Championship
usual fields were 45-60 boats for 1-days, 100-120 boats for 2-days, 60 boat Championship
all lakes fished in WI

Minnesota Muskie Tournament Trail (MMTT) "Angler of the Year" ($6000 prize)
http://www.mnmuskietournament.com/anglerofyear.html
Bill Buechner/Jason Hamernick
MMTT had 4 2-day team events, plus 1 individual event
usual fields were 65-85 boats
fished large MN waters

Professional Musky Tournament Trail (PMTT) "Top Gun" ($5000 prize)
http://www.promusky.com/top_gun_standings.htm
Tom Rozek/Jeff Pagel
PMTT held 4 2-day events plus a 2-day Championship
fields from 100-120 boats, 50 boat Championship
fished various waters in WI, MN, IL, and KY

people usually aren't so shy about sharing their opinions around here!
why do you vote one way or the other?

personally, i view each of these three trails as offering a slightly different challenge, and that's what makes it interesting to compare them:
the WMT has way more events than the other trails, requiring more wins/places over the course of the year.
the MMTT is entirely on big fish waters and teams have to numbers of trophy fish to be in the running.
the PMTT fishes a broader variety of waters, necessitating a broader range of techniques.

what's toughest?

Mike interesting post, I have fished 2 of the 3 trails and knowing what I know I would say for an outsider the MMT would be the hardest trail to win.

1- Your fishing against a core group of great (Local MN) anglers who know these bodies of water well. PMTT you fishing more new waters and new teams kind of evens the playing field out. To win the Team years here what they caught in 5 events- 51, 40, 46.5, 43.5, 42, 44, 45.5, 49, 40.5, 45, 52, 41.5 that is over 2 fish per event.

2- I would agree the PMTT takes a more diversified person to win that trail with new waters and different techniques to be on the bites. I think there team of the year favors the more consistant angler by awarding 160pt for first, and does not give credit to angler who blows the field away at one event by giving the team a huge pt score for the team of the year by using the pts per in inch like MMT. I like the average finish, not total inches.

3-Wmt never fished, and looked at their website to see how they scoring system works for team of the year and could find nothing. I think with more events you have more gimme's for having a bad event and making it up on the next body of water with 16 events, unlike the PMT or MMT you need to be on your games and typically can only have 1 bad event to have a chance for the the team of the year.

It will be interesting to see more feedback.

There are only a handful of people who can answer this question with any sort of background knowledge. I fish the PMTT and I have a great amount of repect for the Top Gun team. They caught fish in 4 out of 5 events (I think), and in many different conditions using a variety of presentations. Pretty impressive. Still, I can not annoint them the team of the year because I have very little knowledge of the other trails, the competitors, or the Top Gun teams.
