I have been looking for a smaller boat that I can put into some of the smaller lakes around home with 10 horsepower limits. I would like a front and back deck to fish from. I keep looking for an older tuffy model without a motor on it, as most do not have a 10 horse. Was wondering if anyone could help with different options on an inexpensive (2-3 thousand) solid boat to fish muskies in. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

I'd say find an older Lund S-14. you can easilly put a front deck on it since there is a front seat, and with a couple of quick mods in the back you could have a back deck too. Storage underneath the decks for gear/batteries, etc.

A 9.9 would move it along well enough too. With a little work you could get a bow deck made to hold a bow mount TM too...

I'd bet you'd be under $3000 with mods...

Keep our options open. I looked for a boat like you want for over 2 years. I finally found a Tuffy with a 40 horse in the price range your want to spend.

Once you find the boat you can always sell off the larger outboard or keep a large bow mount for the smaller 10 hp lakes..

I second the old fiberglass boats. They are awesome!!

I got one last year and put a back deck and a big front deck on it. I can actually fish THREE guys out of this boat fairly well!! But mostly do two guys. It is a VERY stable muskie rig for its size.

Should be able to find one around. Make sure the transom is OK. That is one area they tend to go. Mine is a 74. I love that little boat and actually fish out of it more than my Tuffy 1760 since I can drop it into some little puddles in Northern WI.

I have a 16 ft. deep V Sea Nymph w/ 50 horse Johnson. Large casting deck front and back. Auto pilot trolling motor. Lowrance x85 and x102c fish finders. with much more. Please call 260-410-5474. Tony

Cory, is that a Shell Lake boat? My father -in- law had a boat with the 3 bench seats that looked alot like yours before the mods.

Great boat, handled big waves and you could lean over the sides without worry.

I bought this a few months ago on ebay motors for less than a thousand.

I've had to do a TON of repair work to the entire boat and trailer so that's why the buying price was very insignificant.. . . . . Here's what it looks like now - Still a work in progress.

An old Lund Guide series fiberglass tri-hull styled boat. About half of it is fiberglass and the other half is aluminum. Very lightweight too. 15ft with 28HP 'rude.

Look on places like Ebay Motors. You can find anything you may envision if the ideal bidding time comes.

Mine is the lund guide series as well. 14 footer, might be a foot shorter than the counsole model pictured.

With a 25 hp and all the weight of the decks I have GPS'ed it at 36 mph!!!! Little boat flies!!
