| I'm hearing a lot of debate lately. Which do people prefer, the 12" handle or the 15" handle?

| Without a doubt the 15 inch handle. I like it so much I just had a rod maker lengthen (and increase the diameter) of my 6-9 Premier to the identical proportions of the 8 footer. |

Sign me up as one of those that prefer the 15" handle, with large diameter cork too if possible.

| Rob the 15 inch handle with a nice thick cork would work for me. |

| I like the long ones too. I add rod balancers, that adds another inch. And if they are too short, I get graphite golf club extensions from Golfsmith. They're 4" long, tapered on one end and fit right in the butt end of the rod. 4 cork rings and you're set.

| I totally disagree with the above, and have to vote the smaller handle, but you know that already Rob. Please, oh please, help us reel palming all day casting, no hand switchers and shorten it up. When I buy an 8' rod, I want an 8' rod, not all handle. Extra handle does absolutely nothing but get in the way. I want more length out in front of me. I have 4 or 5 friends that have come over in the past year so I could help them shorten the handles on theirs, now they are 7'8's[:((] |

| Both are good. For me, handle length preference depends on presentation.

| I'm with Jason Schillinger on extending the tip of the rod and shortening the handle. Maybe create a rod with weight balancers in the handle to offset the weight difference of the longer rod tip. I want a rod that figure eights nice and wide/deep, but doesn't feel like I'm going to turn into a shishkabob after a hook set. The longer tip should still give us good leverage with a shorter handle.

| Rob,
You and I have talked about this many times in my boat. I prefer a shorter handle, use as much of the rod as possible. A nice handle length was the old Legend Series. I am a palmer and don't switch hands to cast. The longer handles are to bulky for me. I realize St Croix can't build a personal rod for each of us, but rather they need to do what is best for the majority of the people.

I agree with Jason, the 15" handle is the way to go!
Would much rather have the length on the end of the rod, smaller diameter would also be nice for us guy's that have small hands. Holding the cacutta all day without swicthing and I look like Fred Sanford with my left hand locked up! |

| Ralph, actually the 15" is too long. The 12 is the way to go.
That is how all their rods used to be and I do not know for the life of me why they changed it. It is a waste of cork as far as I'm concerned. |

| I like the long fat corks. The one on my avid is very comfortable and amazing light even w/ the long cork. I give it a thumbs up. |

| I am not that tall and the 15" handles really do get in the way for me ..... YUCKY!! I think a lot of preference would have to do with height and arm length. I custom make all my own rods and never measure the length...I just fit them to what is comfortable for me, or whoever I am building them for. I have not made any, except heavy saltwater rods that have a handle longer than 12".

| All my St.Croix`s are cut to 12"`s! I think the only good thing to do with a 15" handle is to FLY THE FLAG! I agree gets in the way and is mostly useless,not unlike a few of my co-workers!I have no problem putt`in the hacksaw to a $150.00 rod,but shorter from jump street would be nice! Jeff |

| I agree w/ beav. I haven't tried the rod balancers yet but I know that the longer handle itself seems to balance the rod more (in my opinion) and seems a lot easier and nicer when working and feeling the action of a glider. |

| I use the long handles and I never change hands when I cast.
Right hand on the right side of the reel, thumb on the line, left hand on the fore grip to cast, slide the butt end under my arm and away I go.

| I like both the 12"and the 15"handles.I bought the 8'0"for the longer handle and think there should that option.if I wanted a 12"handle in that rod length I would have bought the 7'6".must be a tough job to try to figure out what every body likes. |

| I have just bought a PM76MFH which has the longer handle and I have to say that it's a total pain in the backside! I have a couple of other St Croixs and can pick them up and put them down without thinking about it, the new rod feels so different with the miles of handle sticking out the end. I'm sure the long handle is only to help balance the longer rods, but I would much prefer the rods all to have the same handles and a bit of lead weighting added to balance the longer rods. The mechanical casting advantage there may be with a longer handle must be minute given the actual distances we cast baits compared to beach fishers.
