Decided to make the trip down to southern Illinois to fish with Scott Donovan from Chad Cain's Muskie Guide Service and boated my first fish of '08. We started trolling a spot on Kinkaid lake that he said had fresh way points on the GPS. As we trolled over the way point the down rod's clicker went screaming. A couple minutes later Scott netted my fat 38" Kinkaid muskie. AWSOME way to start the year.

Should have a picture soon.

Even if the muskies were jumping into Scott's boat I dont think he would miss the Chi town show

Nice fish, all I did this weekend was catch nothing Friday icefishing and stuck all my fingers sharpening hooks this morning. Only four more months and a couple of weeks.

Well,

Chris and I finished the weekend on a high note. After three days of trolling we had 4 hooked and boated 2. What a way to start the year and put some nice fish in the boat.

I look foward to seeing everyone at the Chicago Muskie Show! I have to admit it will be tough leaving the lake, but I wait all year for Harper college! Stop by and say hello at the Musky Armor booth.

Here is the hog from today...My first '08 muskie!!!

Way to go Esox! Scott, either your year is going to be PHENOMENAL with a start like that or... I won't even mutter it!!! lol! All kidding aside, very nice fish. Certainly one of the CLEANEST fish I've ever seen, looks like a silver missile not a mark on her!

See you at the show. Would love to swap stories about Fish Tech!

Oh, and nice troot ya got der, fellas! Must have tasted pretty good tonight (or were they all released?)!

I do have to say that these guys are rubbing our noses in it. They do suck! With all the money the Minnesota Dnr gets cant they heat Mille lacs lake so we to can fish all year? Wouldn't that be great , lets start a petition.

I ended my season of 2007 by catching a 38"er at 5:30pm on Dec. 31. Woke up the next morning and went back at them...caught another 38"er at 8:05am for the start of my 2008 season.

Randy Bush (the other guide for my guide service) and I had our boats out over the weekend instead of going to the Chicago Muskie Show. We boated 17 muskies from 32.5" to 44"!
