I am new to muskie fishing and have only caught two fish, my second one was 49 inches long 25 inch girth and over 38 pounds is this normal for these type of fish or is mine just a pig! I enterd it in the contest twice buy accident how can I fix it. One picture willl blow up when you click on it and the other stay's small?

Depends where you fish and time of the year.... Some lakes that would be a pig, others would be pretty normal...

Great fish...carefull though, the internet police will say you have an exagerated tape when measuring the girth.

First of all, beautiful fish.
Second, if you are going to post pictures with length and girth measurements, some people will give you crap about the measurements. For instance, they ask if you pinched the tail to get the extra 1/2" or so, when the regulations in WI and MN tell you to pinch the tail to measure for legal fish length.
In your case it's a girth measurement. I have a tape made of fabric, so I get as accurate a girth measurement as I can. Some will ask if you measured it while it was in the water, which gives you a true round girth measurement, but if you are alone and lay it on a bump board, it will flatten out and that will add incehs to the girth.
And at the same time, you are supposed to do this as fast as Superman so you can release the fish quickly.
My advise, measure it as exactly as you can and as quickly as you can to avoid harming the fish. Those are the measurements that you took, you trust them to be accurate, and most people will not question you. Let the nay-saying comments roll off your back like water off a duck's back.
I see a fish that is loaded. It is full of food and eggs, and to me it looks like a true 25" girth fish and maybe more than 38 pounds.
That is a very clean, healthy specimen and is carrying probably close to it's maximum load without bursting. Yes, it is a pig. Fish that are gorging in the fall and producing eggs will look like that. Normal? Yes. I wish that they were all that normal, and that 60"ers were the fish that we caught a few times during our lifetimes.
I think it is a very normal...one big pig of a fish! Congratulations on catching a really big pig.

The way I figure it, if they ever do a musky version of Roseanne, we know what fish will get John Goodman's part.

WOW!!

Now...Get Hulbert in here to look at this sow!!! As he says MANY TIMES (and I agree) a 22 inch girth fish is a nice fish.....a lot of 24-25 inche so called girths floating around.....but...if you want to see what a legit 25 inch girth looks like....see above pic....

This is an amazing speciment....

Hate to tell you how many years you will have to fish to catch one that compares to this one....

Congrats!!

Actually...you don't get a full appreciation of the true depth (top to bottom, or belly) of thsi fish, because if you notice, the fish is tilted back, fairly signigicantly (look at back fin)...so really it TAKES AWAY from how deep this fish really is...never mind the pure gut on this gal.....

I would have LOVED to see her in person...actually, video would have been cool so you could really appreciate the fish from a couple different angles....

Not your typcial skinny St. clair fish thats for sure!!

Jclymer: "Depends where you fish and time of the year.... Some lakes that would be a pig, others would be pretty normal..."

ummmm what? pretty normal? are you wacked...25 inch girths are not "normal" on any lake...sure on Mille lacs right about now some show up....i know of one boat that has a 51 x 25 and 52 x 26 this week but to say those are "normal"

are you smoking something ..if so, pass it over here....

That fish probably beats the personal best of more than half the registered users of this site who are all by definition "musky fisherman". It is in no way normal and is in every way extraordinary. Congrats on what many would consider the catch of a lifetime!

Norm,
Paraphrasing a Jedi Knight...One's reality is most often based on ones perception.

If one fishes over on Mille Lacs almost exclusively, where the piggies are more robust than is 'normal' about anywhere else....'reality' may take a serious side trip.

49 by 25 is a bit girthy even there, I think, but that lake puts out some slobs.

this fish was from St. Clair, which has a reputation for "normally" long, skinny fish.
clearly this one goes against that stereotype!

Sometimes I wish they made portable xray machines. I want to know what that pig was eating. Ask around see if anybody is missing their beagle.
