This is something I have not done much of. We have had success fishing the first hour of dark in late fall/winter, but what about into the night? Has anyone had any success and if so what baits do you usually throw? Same baits you would throw during the summer? Thanks for the input in advance!

hello. if you can stand the cold stay out. cast .troll. what ever it takes. lures are pounders. big 10 bucks slow roll cranks twitchbaits vibration is key and keep it reel slow and always go long on the eight. good luck

So you basically the same thing you would do in the summer?

I will be night fishing the Fox River mainly. Will post if I do any good.

How about you Wisconsin boys? You guys ever stay out past dark on the Wisconsin River?

I have, but for big 'eyes. I start at dusk and fish until about 8PM or so. Catch a muskie now and again using 7" Fliptail Creatures and a 3/8 ounce jig.

December 12, 2006, 9:00 PM-ish.  I'd say that after hours hunting can be fruitful.

After dark, I have caught a few pulling and stopping spinnerbaits when it's cold and dark out.

No different than summer other than it is dang cold. I am not a believer that pressure is 'the' factor in night fishing, as we get alot of night bites going on lakes with very very light pressure all season. Fish whenever you can get out. Just remember to push through the 'down' time just after sunset or just start later.
