Location: north central wisconsin | I have a nice cover for my 690 Tiller but the side straps seem to rub on the boat right where the they meet, and I am seeing some wear through the clear coat, being now noticeable from a fair distance. What type of material could one use to deter this type of 'rubbing' damage? Would a piece of fleece stop this, or do some of you have another material that you effectively use at boat/strap stress/rub points? Thanks in advance. |

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Fleece will help, so would a microfiber. Best is to not have the straps in contact with the hull at all, because the straps get whipped around pretty good at 65 MPH. |

| I agree...best thing to do when trailering imo at highway speeds it not have a cover with straps that touch the hull...dust / road grime etc will collect under anything you have between the strap and hull and wear....there is no way around it ...best bet is to not cover it...

Location: north central wisconsin | Thanks guys. I am going to devise a way to keep the strap off the boat altogether. I like to cover it on longer trips as even with the rock tamers I get alot of stones inside etc. Also like to keep my gear all ready for when I get to the landing, but I guess living with or without either of the above would be better than having the rubbing going on, that is.
Old brown Tuffy?? I wish. And by the way, those are not Carhartts. That is official Ozark 'Brown Streak' gear, made especially for me, and I am still wearing it, and will until it wears out. Then, onto the Pabst pro coveralls. Already took the Ranger name-plate off the rig too. Visors are for girly men like BN. |
