I emailed a biologist with my tag info from the fish caught this passed weekend. As of right now they are in the process of getting all the data into a new database so there isnt a ton of information available on my fish at this moment unless they dig through papers manually and there obviously isnt that time for that at this moment.....but he did tell me with a right ventral fin clip that the fish was likely stocked as a yearling so once he can get at all the data we should know the exact age of that fish....the most interesting thing I've learned about the fish so far is that it was likely stocked in Winnebago or Upper Winnebago due to the Oshkosh address on the Floy Tag....so that fish was quite the traveler. Thats all I know right now, I'll report back as I find out more.

Pointer,

Can you let me know the e-mail address of who to contact on tagged fish? PM me if you want. We caught a tagged one on Bone a few weeks ago and I haven't had the time to follow up on it.

Lungin, if you are talking about Bone in Polk County, its not the same person you need to contact.

I would contact [email protected] for that information on who to contact for the tagging info on Bone Lake.

Here is another email I recieved from the DNR...apparently the original information wasnt entirely correct. The fish was not stocked in Winnebago. Here is the email:

Thank you for reporting the tagged Musky. Your fish that measured 50 inches was stocked as a yearling on September 17, 1996 and was 19.6 inches at that time. It was stocked at Communiversity Park, which is on the east shore of Green Bay across from the UWGB entrance.

Imagin that, stocked within a mile of where you caught it. 11 years later.

Well done.

Wow...awesome. I will relay that to the guys in the Titletown club at the next meeting. Not that they were responsible for the stocking (as the club didn't exist back then), but they do support stocking now--as does the other club in town. But at the very least it's nice to hear about a success story such as this.

Great fish, great ending. But the next fish is MINE Mike, lol...

Very cool info Mike...

It would be cool to have tag info posted perhaps on the research forum. Wouldn't have to give the body of water but just the date stocked, size when stocked, and size and date when caught. That could be very helpful for anyone working on size regulation changes, or simply for increasing our knowledge on growth rates, and establishment of home areas.
