Posts: 32890 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | Merckid and company got her about 10 minutes ago. I'll let him tell you about the fish, but it was as big as I thought it was... And it's still there, released to swim another day.

Posts: 32890 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | TJ (merckid) met me this morning at 8 AM with Cowboyhannah (Rick Koepke) here at the Hideout to pick up the 1890 for the day. The action was to be dedicated to trying to pop the fish we lost last night, and about 11 AM, that happened in exactly the same place, a small rock hump on the main lake drop! Rick was throwing his 'Basement Bait Builder' personal double 10 when the big girl showed, and she ate on the 8. An impressive battle later, and the fish was in the net. Nice work, TJ, and congratulations to Rick for a beautiful fish. TJ lost another in the mid 40" class on a sucker at the net. Posts: 1456 Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Well SOMEONE had to catch her!!!!LOL Here's the rundown...After tossing my 10" Jake for an hour, I decided to whip on one of my Mavericks---(D-10 tinsel) On the fourth cast I tossed it up on the structure riding it high and then slowed down to let it fall down the break and continued my retrieve to the boat. As the bait approached I could see a fish following slow and low but didn't get a good look at it. I went into my 8 and continued for 5-6 turns when she suddenly reappeared and smashed my bait right after the 'high and outside' part of the turn. Only when she came up and thrashed at the surface did we have any idea that it was a BIG fish. TJ was right there with the net and she was shortly laying in the bottom of the bag! Lot's of good pictures, a vid of her coming out of the bag a quick measurement and she was on her way to fight again! Thanks to Merkid for a great day----. Merkid lost a 40 " class fish on a sucker shortly thereafter....had other muskies chasing suckers as well.

Posts: 16632 Location: The desert | Great job guys! Awesome fish.....I think I need to find better guides....Sorno guides me to 27.5 inchers then sticks a 51.25 not even a week after I leave town! TJ takes me out on the same lake and we did great, then he puts Rick on that beast! What gives?? Perhaps its not the guides?! Just kidding guys! Great fish Rick, congrats!!!
