| My buddy has one of these lunds and refuses to put any holes of any kind into the boat. He often suggest trolling but has no rod holders. Once again he won't put a hole in the boat. Any idea how to attach rod holders to this boat? It's especially hard with the wide gunwales. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | That, is honestly a tough question! Did his boat come with any rails on the gunnels? I was going to suggest, rail mount rod holders, however, if he doesn't have rails, that's kinda a problem then. |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | Kinda hard to hold more than two rods in your detachable arms! Yeah, bring it to me also, I don't have problems drilling holes, I love that stuff. I was simply saying I do not believe there are strong enough detachable rod holders to troll with. |

Location: Chicago | Did he try the Lund SportTrak Accessory Sliders? It does not look like screws are required to install that system. I do not know how well it would work for trolling.

| Salty Down-easter clamp on's. There is a 2 screw clamp on. Got two on mine as i dont want too many holes in my boat either. Rollie and Helen's have them. |

| I appreciate all the replies but... He does not have rails, the lund sport trak sliders won't work with his boat( I already contacted lund) and I am not sure where the salty down-easters would go. Anybody ever seen a pedestal mount rod holder that would be capable of trolling musky lures with? |

| Mike, when you drill the holes to attach the rails did you just screw right into the top of the gunwale or did you put something inside the gunwale to screw into? |

Location: Waukesha, WI | there is a plywood backer underneath, and where there wasn't, I just added pieces. Stainless steel hardware: fender washers and nylon lock nuts. I bought everything from West Marine in Delafield. 6 foot lengths of 1" rails. I can dig up the actual shopping list if you want. |

| Those Salty holders can be clamped to an unright angle piece of metal, those metals pieces can be screwed to a piece of wood underneath. A C-clamp could hold the wood/metal on top of the sides. Lund has a flat gunnel (sp.?) right, and it is open below? Might have to be a big c-clamp. |

| I've been told that there are rod holders that attach to the cleats of the boat. However, I have not found these in six years of looking. Sounds like a million dollar idea to me. |

| Drill the holes. It's easier after the first.
Look at Folbe Rod Holders, too. I love mine. Not popping out and back like the Scotty's. Easier to use, and just as rugged as the Downeasters. Plus, they won't tear up your cork handles. |
