| My bow mount has developed an intermittent problem in that it will not always turn directions. If I raise the motor and put the head in a different location it turns fine until I raise it out of the water again. I don’t want to take it in for service until the end of the season. Any suggestions for a possible fix that will get me through the rest of the season? |

Location: Stevens Point, WI | There is multiple things that it could be that is causing this problem. You might be better off trying to get it fixed now, versuses later because if the problem continues, you have to deal with it the rest of the season. I would see about getting it fixed now, otherwise it may become worse. Just my suggestion. |

| Good chance you have dirty contacts. It's avoidable, just stow your foot pedal away when travelling. Leaves and sand aren't too kind to those things.
I've never gotten one fixed. Why? The cost to fix them is roughly 5 bucks less than it is for a new one. You get the new one immediately and don't have to wait. That's worth the 5 or so bucks right there. |

| I just took mine in to be fixed. I would take it in and in less then a week you are back in the saddle again.
Just part of being a boat owner.

| I have taken the foot pedal apart a few times to clean the contacts and put a little lube on them too.. not too hard to do. It's a matter of taking the springs off the bottom which hold the foot pedal in place...the foot pedal is basically on a rocker arm that when pressed, hits a bar that makes contact with the contact plate.
Once you tear one down and clean it, you will find it is a fairly simple design.
This is for a general cleaning... if you have bad contacts, it time to get a new pedal...and sometimes this is the case.
I'd try cleaning it first before going and purchasing a replacement..

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I had this same problem and during a slight fit of rage I dipped the foot control in the water and this was enough to clean it and it has worked perfectly for about two years now. Probably not the recommended solution to fix this. |
