if you haven't seen it already, you owe it to yourself to check out ShaneW's photo album.
the row-troller boat he's been hand-building over the last year is a work of art.

Wow! That is VERY impressive. The skills some people have blow me away. For God's sake, it takes me three tries just to tie on a leader with a double palomar.

Very cool, to say the least.

That is absolutely amazing. The talent of some of the folks on this board continues to astound me. Lures, rods, boat renovation, and now a whole dang boat! What next? That has got to be extremely satisfying.

Awesome Shane and thanks for posting the photos all along. It was really interesting to check the progress of the boat. The first sliming will be real special. Many tightlines in Natalie's Pride!

You gotta wonder how many hours it takes to build something like that.

Thanks for all of the nice comments. I had a lot of help - besides Jerry who half the work with me Row Hunter (Douglas Wicker) and Geoff Crandall from Cap City Muskies Inc were always free with information. Jerry's crazy - he restores old wooden canoes but never built a boat before but now wants to make more.

The boat took 350-400 hours to complete with the first 100 coming on just the setup part. The folks at Newfound Boats were easy to work with. The boat looks like a daunting project but you would be surprised - basic carpentry skills is all it took. You get real good at sanding. The fiberglassing was a challenge and I already see things I will fix over the winter. If anyone is interested in taking on a project like this I have copies of the DVDs for building the boat and fiberglassing it you could borrow.

Maiden voyage this coming weekend and then she'll be ready for the M1st Presque Isle outing!

Shane

This is the same dedication that Shane puts into everything he does. His attention to detail is unmatched by anyone. I cannot wait to see it up at the outing!

Shane, awesome job!!!

My brother in law has an old Thompson row troller that a client gave him that he's going to restore (needs lots of work). I'll have to let him know to check this out if he's figured out how to use the internet yet. lol

Can't wait to see it in action at the M1st outing.
