My son Luke caught his first muskie today, after 2 years of trying! A nice 42 1/2 " fish. He was using a crazy frog colored slidin' shad from musky magic tackle. He actually hooked a small northern and the muskie came up and hit it. The front hooks stayed in the pike and the back hooks stuck the muskie! He is pumped. when we get the pics developed, we will post. Sugar Lake Mn. The fish are going!

Congratulations! That sounds awesome. I can't wait for some pictures. So did he get both the pike and musky?

2 fish on the same lure, you can't beat that! I had a big muskie grab a walleye once but never put it in the boat.

That is quit a memorable way to catch the first one, Congrats to your son and may it be the first of many. I am sure the other hooked one is him now.

I think you have to be a registered member to post pictures. Once you do that, create a new post and on it, you have to click the box above the submit button that says "Attach a file after posting".

That's an AWESOME way to catch your first muskie. In fact, I'm jealous MY first wasn't caught that way!!!!

Clint,

Email me the pictures at [email protected] and I will post them for you. I know I'd like to see them and from the above posts it sounds like I'm not alone!

Here are the pics from Clint of his son's first and the mauled pike. Look closely at the mid section of the pike and you can see perfect "U" shaped bite marks! Congrats again to you and your son, Clint!

Great pictures! Question, why did you feed the anchor to the muskie?

That's a nice ski your boy caught! Congrats to him.

It always seems that muskies will hit other fish when kids are in the boat. My son had a mid to high 40 inch fish tbone a 14" crappie on Pewaukee once. Another time at a kids outing on Pewaukee, a boy had a 15" walleye up to the net, when a mid 30 ski grabbed it and took off, snapping the line. I had 3 kids with that day, and they all saw it happen and squealed! One time on Big Siss with my daughter and wife.

Last time, was at the last Kly outing on Okauchee. This time, Theedz caught a mid 20 pike on a jig, and a 50" ski t-boned it. I got a couple not so great pics, and the pike had bubbles coming out it's side when the ski bit down hard. 9 minutes, Theedz played it, before the jig came out, and the muskie finally got to eat. We laughed really hard at that one. Oh, the kid that day? DaveJ!

Good work Luke! I talked to Luke at the boatramp as they were leaving the lake and he was really excited - didn't even mention he got two fish on one cast! He described the fish just like an old pro. I'm sure we'll see you on the lake more often now!
