| To those that have fished them both, IS there a difference? What is the difference? I'm suprised i don't hear more about "sue", being it has the formula x body and the external hook harness, both advantages i would think. Or is it just that so many people are using dawgs, that by relative numbers of them out there, they get the nod? Thanks in advance...

Location: Rhinelander. | I don't know about the others but forula x has not been good to me. Bought two of the baits with this and they both melted right on the carpet in my boat. Thats 40 bucks shot.

Location: Contrarian Island | curly sue's are now all hand poured...no formula x anymore...Also, Andy is now making them with thru wire construction and the plastic is not nearly as soft as the dawgs these days....I just got my hands on some of the new 11" and 13" curly sue's and can say without a doubt they will hold up much better to the current dawgs being made...
as for differences...the pounder sinks faster and goes deeper than the 13" curly sues..I'd say the 11" curlys and mags run about the same...I think they both "glide" thru the water about the same...
new dawgs fall apart after a few hours...curly sue's don't....big plus

| The new through wire paddle tail version is even better than the curly sue or dawg. The bait thumps and wobbles like you wouldnt belive. Both of Andy's baits rock! They are tougher and look better than the dawgs. |

| There are applications for both. You can move 'Dawgs much more erratically than the Curly Sues. The CS's have a great "hopping" action through the water that you can't really get with a Bulldawg, at least not to that extent. As Brad said, I think the CS's, ESPECIALLY with the FX, are 100 times more durable than the Bulldawgs. There is simply no comparison, but when you want a big plastic bait with more erratic motion then I'd reach for the 'Dawg. |

Location: Burlington, WI | The 11" curly sue has a bigger profile than the mag dawg, which makes it more similar to the profile of the pounders if you ask me. The plastic is much tougher than all of the new dawgs, and the treble hook that is able to release in the back of the bait works great. I had a fish on the back hook with only two cuts on the entire bait. The bait is in perfect condition. But if you like the through wire construction, which apparently a lot of people do, then the new ones will be great as well. Love'em. |
