Posts: 2037 Location: lansing, il | I do not know what others are using/selling. I can only speak for what we use/sell, and that is only Stringease Brand in the Stay Loks.

Location: Athens, Ohio | They all will fail at the bend if you don't change them out occasionally. Lost a good bait that way, but only once. m

Location: Contrarian Island | I've bought the stay lock knock offs on ebay for 5+ years , no issues, can get em for like .25 cents each... likely made at the same plant in china ![]()

Location: Contrarian Island | so if you have a stringease fail then what are you going to do? anyone that thinks nothing can fail simply because of the brand name on it is in for an awakening at some point..

Posts: 1100 | I have also noticed better durability on the stringease, over the Mustads.

Posts: 663 | When Mustad initially took over the manufacture of Stay Loks they jumped the shark and used wire with less tensile strength. I am 90% sure that on subsequent runs of the product they went to a stronger wire and I noticed little to no difference. If you are buying relatively "new" Mustads I wouldn't worry about it but if it's old stock that's been sitting on a shelf for years then it could be some of that first generation stuff. You can usually tell just by pulling a snap out of the package and operating it. If you have a choice or not sure then get the Stringease.

Location: Northern Illinois | Stick with products from Stealth Tackle you will not have any issues. Obviously it's always a good idea to check your equipment out every once in awhile especially leader components. But I've always bought from stealth and every product has been as close to reliable as you can get.
