Steve W, Slamr, Anybody.........I have an 81 Roustabout that I restored from thr ground up. Now I am looking into buying an 87' Rampage 180 for big water lakes so I can make trips up to Minnesota with my own rig.

Does anybody have any info about this boat.....ie: HP Rating(Non-Tiller). Length, transom height, Beam, Depth, etc.... What current Tuffy model is this similar to? Could this boat handle water such as Mille Lacs, Leech & Vermillion? Any info would be appreciated.

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin		The 180 XT was rated for 60 HP. It's a great boat for waves to 3', but over that the boat won't make you happy. There isn't a model made by Tuffy today that compares, that boat was a sponsoned V.

What is the difference between the 180 XT and the 180 Sportsman. On IBOATS it lists the 87' 180 sportsman as having a HP rating of 120 for the console and 60 for the tiller. Is this correct? Does Tuffy have any parts such as livewell lids and other accesories still available?

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin		Sportsman is the console model. No fiberglass or Tuffy built parts for that model anymore from what Tuffy Marketing tells me, unfortunately.

Are there any specific things (besides the floor, I know the floor usually goes....I have done redos on 2 Tuffys in the past ) I should look for when looking at the boat.

The individual is asking $500 for the boat and trailer with a newer Powerdrive bow mount. I figure if I have to put an older 60 to 120 hp outboard for $1000 to $1200 a floor in it and recarpet that isn't that bad of a deal.

Does he need to check the stringers at all? They were wood I believe, encased in glass. If the glass happened to get a void, and rotted the wood? Can this be remedied?

Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin		Probably not, no. If the stringers were shot, my bet is the rest of the floor, etc would be because one has to go through the floor to get to the stringers.
