If there is anybody fishing the numerous tiger lakes around the mn TC area, which types of baits are most consistent in hooking fish?

I've heard downsizing is good, and I've never had luck with musky sized bucktails/crankbaits on tigers, but it seems bass sized spinners or crankbaits only end up getting me averaged size bass.

The jointed jitterbug has been the best lure i've found, but it needs the right conditions and fish miss most of the time.

thanks,
erik

Hi for tigers in our metro lakes I use small cj's spinnerebaits perch colored and a white hair/nickel blade spinnerbait that is a little bigger than the smller cj's called a fairy tail a friend of mine makes. This summer they are laying a lot closer to shore than you may think possible. For cranks I have done well with a bright colored J-13 rapala. Hope it might help. Duff

I have been hearing over and over how large baits aren't effective for Tigers. NOT TRUE! I have been focusing on the tiger lakes a little more this season and have caught around 20 so far this season. The most productive baits in my boat so far have been a straight model floating Depth Raider, an 8" phantom and a Top Raider. I have also caught 2 on a 10" Jake. I don't even bother to downsize for them in any situation.
I have also heard that you can't catch them after dark. Again NOT TRUE! The three nicest tigers I have caught this season all came a 1/2 hour to 1.5 hours after sunset. Not pitch black but dark enough that the headlamp was in use.
I'll attach a few pictures later on.

Pretty fish. Hybrids are just plain cool fish; wish they were more prevelant here.
