I finally got up to St Clair to fish a little last week. Family obligations don't leave much time, but I got a half day on Tuesday up around the North Channel/Grass Island. The 15' Whaler I use up there doesn't have a trolling motor (my In-law's boat), so getting angles for drifting over the good structure is pretty wind-dependant, as is boat speed. Regardless, I managed to see a few fish in one weedbed, and had one come a third of the way out after a willey's spinnerbait as I pulled it out (never again will I forsake the full 8 for an L, no matter how fast the boat is moving past the good stuff). Did catch a 33" northern on a Weagle, but would have prefered one of the bigger fish for sure. The wind shifted and increased, after I got a couple drifts in, and I had to drag tubes for smallies for the rest of the trip (not a bad thing). Better luck next time.

Eric
