Posts: 32955 Location: Rhinelander, Wisconsin | I spent Saturday traveling back from Wabigoon, and Sunday unpacking and just chilling after a pretty busy week. Seemed to me the muskies should have been going here at least, how'd you do out there?

Posts: 1293 Location: Stevens Point, Wi. | Made an eary morning trip to N. Vilas county. Had a low 30's in the net by 6:30. Then a few more quick follows. About 8 the sun broke thru the slight overcast and the fish shut down. A few hours later I melted into a puddle on the floor and shut it down too. Bring on some cool weather!!!

Posts: 2865 Location: Brookfield, WI | Ugh. Is it Fall yet? Bytor and I spent yesterday with Dennis Radloff. Even on the big water it was hot, bright, and relatively calm. We launched at 11:00 at Sturgeon Bay, then headed to the Upper Bay which was a pretty good haul. We fished quite a few spots and I think we moved just one fish. Lots of recreational traffic out of Door County. It's humorous when there are just as many $100,000 to $300,000 boats as there are kayaks and jet skis. We finished the day in Little Sturgeon Bay where we fished from about 5:30 until 45 minute past moon rise. Bytor stuck a chubby 36", I continue to be good luck for others. I had a fish hit or bump a bucktail. It either missed, or I missed. My tremendously powerful hookset yielded nothing. We moved a couple other fish over the course of the day, but it was brutal in the bright sun and heat. Dennis is a blast to fish with, not only tall, but funny. He works his tail off. He put 72 miles on his boat trying to find us fish. He even took us to some big fish spots that don't get much pressure. If you decide to spend your money having Dennis guide you, you have spent your money wisely. He explained a ton of stuff about fishing that huge body of water, and I think he's got Bytor more than a bit intrigued. I always tell Bytor he needs to smile in his fish pictures. Here's two pics of his chubby 36"er. I'm posting two to show what he looks like when he's smiling in a photo. See if you can tell which one has the smile. LOL. Kevin Rub my head for luck. Posts: 619 Location: Verona, WI | Did the river wading thing this weekend as after a week on LOTW I didn't want to be in my boat anymore. Got a 46" on a bucktail Friday night which is the biggest fish I've gotten while wading and called it a day. My nerves were shot as catching a musky in 2 1/2 feet of water means the fish can only go up. Came completely out of the water several times. Went back to the same spot on Saturday and got a 37" and was happy to have my wife get her first - 34". A total of 2 1/2 hours of fishing and three fish. Nice weekend. Shane

Location: Lake Tomahawk, WI | This weekend was another good one for us. With stable weather and full moon phase we were really pumped and had the cameras all charged up. We ended up putting 13 fish on film between 40 and 48 inches, with help from our extended prostaff as well as Mark and Gordy. Badfish Boy Tyler Rutzen made a return to the front of the camera with a real heavy fish as well. We found fish in our usual deep weed spots, with a slight twist. Many of our weed edges have begun to lie down and die, and it took us some time to find the remaining green weeds. This is a random occurance we've noticed over the last few years. The fish were taken on big plastics, real shocker. Now its some time off to hang some drywall and for the boys to get back to the WMT. Maybe some evenings chasing walleyes and grilling venison. Beautiful to see the fishing in Vilas going up like it has the last three years... Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | Fished the pond over the weekend. Tough bite for us with the smallies walleyes and pike being a bit more eager to eat than Muskies. Only a few muskies to actually commit in 4.5 days with 45" the biggest. No night action for us. Did see a few flashes to let us realize we were not casting in total vain. Saw some great sunsets, lost my new Alaskan charter cap and headlamp(long story), broke my video camera during a release, hooked my leg with an AC 10, and ate too much venison sausage and cold Halibut. Will be back! Edited by Reef Hawg 8/3/2007 9:55 AM

| Reefhog, We call the pond (if we are talking the same pond) the "lake of broken dreams." Many people come to Mille Lacs expecting 50"ers to jump in the boat, and soon realize that these fish are difficult.. The people that know how, when and what to do on the lake do great, the vast majority do not have great success.. Good job on the 45"er.... Edited by jclymer 8/3/2007 7:10 AM | |||

Posts: 3518 Location: north central wisconsin | I here ya j. We did not come away dissapointed. Glad just to see a few niceer ones. We learned a few new and less pressured areas where we had action and I am all the more excited to get back there. Prior to that trip this year, we'd been fishing places with a shot at a 50", but I just like being somewhere knowing something is lurking that might require a diaper upon hookup.
