| has anybody tried it? Worth buying or not? And power pro? |
|
|
|
| I've never tried Whiplash but I hear good things about it. I use 65lb PowerPro and just love it. I've never had any break offs and the line seems to fit snug on the reel without any slipping. PowerPro normally runs about 17-20$ depending on where you get it, but to me it's well worth the money.

| divani,I like the Whip-lash alot better then the power-pro,holds less water/limper/smoother/thinner/eaiser knots/and no green krud on your reel from the line! This new season will be Tuf+ and 80# Whip-lash and no power-pro cause all the reasons listed and I think that green crap is extremly hard on your reels! One thing if you were using 65#pp go to 80#Whip for the same sizing!Just how I see it! | I have used 80 lb whiplash with great success. I also tried the 50, but I think its too small. Power pro is just junk in my opinion, Had a billion break offs just on the cast or a tiny snag, and it holds a lot of water. |

| I started using Power Pro last season. I have nothing but good things to say. No breakoffs, very few backlashes, great knot strength.
At the end of the day, I would probably have the same comments regarding Tuf-Line and Whiplash, I just went with Power Pro and now have no reason to change.

| yeah ive been using power pro 50 lb. and love it. ive never had any green crap on my reels though? but the whiplash sounds good too, it is alot thinner but i would think it would bury in the spool more than power pro. but i bet it casts farther? better? dont know...i just might try that 80 lb. test though, its very thin. |

| If you switch to "Backlash" expect a lot of breakoff's. I'm going away from it this year. It got too expensive. I cringed everytime I backlashed because about 1-in-3 times the bait was gone! Go with the 100lb if your insistant on it. The extra $5 will save you $50 in baits.

| thats what i was afraid of hearing...cause its too thin it breaks. never had a breakoff on a backlash with powerpro. will stick with it. thanks. |

| divini, I'm a Tuffline addict. Great stuff. Its really strong. At the chicago musky show i got 3 spools of 150 yards of 80lb tuffline plus for $10. THat was amazing deal. I forgot who I bought it from though. Maybe since your in transition between lines I would definatly try tuff you won't be sorry. |

| I used both wiplash and power pro this past year. Overall I feel the power pro was the better of the two, and the best I have found so far. I use both the 65 lb. and the 80 lb. without any troubles.
Things to watch out for with the wiplash line are:
1) Anything less than 80 lb. will break on you, especially during a backlash.
2) More backlashes are to be had with the line, at least when using a Shimano Corsair reel. I think it is because the line is so slippery and that it shoots off the spool much faster than any other line.
3)The line will cut into plastic on a reel (ex. Corsair) during a backlash.
4) Have lost fish on the hookset by line exploding a feww feet up from leader.
I did like the wiplash, however, because of the limpness of the line. The line cast great when it is not in the process of backlashing. Improved success in clear waters using the wiplash line.
One more word of caution is the wiplash will turn your reel green after a while of use.
Hope this helps. |

| Second that..esox 14.
50lb Tuff-line has been flawless for me... |

|
| Been using the 100# Whiplash for several years. Never had a break off, or bad experience with it. Have tried all the rest, and I'm sticking with Whiplash. |

| I once was with a guy throwing whiplash while I threw 80 lbs Tuff line....He was good with the net...........

| Hi gang, I have used both PP and Whiplash in the #50LB class and found both to light, expecially when speed trolling. Had some breakoffs with the Whiplash then switched to powerpro and the problem became worse!!! When that stuff hit a rock, it would cut like a hot knife through butter. I have since switched to Whiplash 80 and that has solved the problem. Whiplash in my opinion has far more cut resistance then Power Pro. As for casting and such, both were about the same and both spooled nicely on the reel. Power Pro did hold more water though.
Let them go, let them grow.

| I would never use a line with a name like that,,,sounds like a condition you would catch at a bar in Hong Kong |

| I'm a Tuf-Line junkie. However I can't find any of the original Tuf line and decided to try one reel of 100# Whiplash (backlash). IT SUX. If you get a professional over-run, good luck picking it out, and be happy if you don't also toss one of your favorite baits. I have no confidence in it at all, so it's coming off as soon as I can find some original Tuf Line to replace it with.
BTW - Power Pro.... I have seen enough dawg's get tossed into the drink with that stuff to know that I'm never going to try it.

| I can't believe no one has mentioned Cortland Spectron. Never had a break off (fish or snag) with it, and the extra body seems to do away with all the bad traits of a thinner diameter line of the same # test. I've used tuff and P.P. with good results but IMHO Spectron is the best [:praise:] .

| I have used whiplash, powerpro, and spectron, my favorite is power pro, I would like to try tuf sometime, maybe next spool. |
|

|
| I agree with Toddb. I have used all the lines mentioned, and kept coming back to Cortland Spectron! It is braided different than the others and holds up "by far" the best for me.

| Please do yourself a favor and fish with Tuf-line. No, I do not work for them. Or anyone else. If a person is losing lures to backlash, Tuf-line seems to absorb more of the abuse than other lines in my opinion. Also for abrasion resistance, it is second to none. Great stuff for the price!!! 80 lb. test will do you well! Happy Fishing with Tuf-Line! |
