I have several old style bulldawgs that have fallen apart.. Has anyone had any success cutting the dawgs in half the long way, and replacing the wire and super glueing and melting the dawgs back togehter? I am planning on giving it a try and seeing if anyone has had success??

Personally, I pull out the old SevenStrand wire and thread 200lb. flourocarbon leader material thru the bait with something akin to a threading needle, then cinch the flouro tight to the line tie and crimp. I attach a couple of solid rings on the hook end and use Bucher Super Split rings to those - then the hooks. Works real well once you get the spacing/length the way you like it. You've got to be careful using lighters around the flouro though when trying to melt-repair the Dawg after this surgery.

My only other piece of advice is to make a repair such as this even if your old SevenStrand Dawg is in good condition. That original leader material breaks easily! There's more than one fish swimming around today with a treble stuck in her mouth...I know from experience.
