Three lakes all different in a chain in Central Minnesota. Lake 1 is in the north and lake 3 is in the south. Every lake is different in many ways.

Lake #1 (The northern lake)

100 acres, shallow 20ft and less. Dark water, coon tail and cabbage only growing in three feet and less. Two points with rocks on them, and two marsh areas. A large creek enters the chain here. Forage perch and suckers.

Lake #2 (The middle lake)

500 acres, 50 feet deep, visabiltiy to 6 feet, weedline at 8ft around the whole thing, two rock reefs in the middle with mixed cabbage around them, one marsh area in the north end, one steep sharp breaking south shoreline. Forage, perch, tullibee and suckers

Lake #3(Southern most lake)

2000 acres and 90ft deep, very clear, 15ft of visabiltiy. Weedlines only on the northern side and down to 11 feet. Three rock reefs in the middle of the lake with no weeds, east shoreline is sandy, south shoreline is rocky and steep, west shoreline has lots of points and a few back bays with marshy areas. Forage is suckers, tullebee and perch.

This is in Central Minnesota, trolling is legal.

***Its Mid October, water temp 50 degrees and winds are northwest at 10mph, and its cloudy.

1) Where would you start fishing?

2) With what presentation?

hmmm very good question Jason. I was hoping someone else would go first but I'll take a shot at this. I have a problem with the word chain because I seldom fish anything like it but some of the lakes I fish have all of these ares so I'll go with that. 50 degree water is the end of my hardcore topwater season. This is also the time that tulibees will start to stack up near sandy areas for spawning that will happen in the next water drop of approx 10 degrees. I would most likely be on the break area of the sand into deeper water with a search bait such as the Jackpot. This is where I would start. So a short answer would be lake 3....near a sandy point in 11-18' of water. I would find the baitfish and cast over top of them and work around them. I guess what I'm trying to say is i would work the baitfish as a piece of structure within a stucture....or the spot on the spot.
