I finally got a hold of a copy of a old photo taken in 1948 by a Chicago Tribune photographer that I've been looking at for the last 27 years at Boiling Springs Tavern off of Pelican Lake. It is of a muskie that was speared out of Enterprise Creek in April of that year. The back of the photo had writing stating 87 lbs? My father said that he remembers hearing about it as a kid and Clarence Bodenhagen, Bayside Resort owner and muskie guide, stated the fish was in the 50 lb class, but no where near 87 lbs. You can make out more detail in the actual copy I have (sorry for the poor scan job). I have no idea who added the measuring stick, but it does appear that the fish could of been well over 60".

Garner (Gabby) Ball, now long gone, knew these fellows and saw the fish. He told me it was in the high 50" class and was in the 50's for weight..

I knew I should have fished Enterprise instead of Moccasin at the Outing! hehehe

Wow, what a monster!

I sure wish I could find all the old pics of my dad and uncle with the fish they caught on Butte des Mortes back in the 50's and 60's. There were several over 4 foot.

It's nice to see that muskie fishermen haven't changed much in appearance. We still look like that except for the tie.
