What's happening guy's. I've got a buddy of mine that took off to Mille Lac's on the spur of the moment. We are going up with Gregg Thomas here in acouple of week's, but my buddy couldn't stand it and he is on the water. He's on the north shore and he's tearing the pike up on the outside weed edge's and we're wanting to know if there's any Muskie hanging out with the pike or do they not generally use the same structure's when the pike are all over it? I told him if nothingelse, the pike are probably where the food is, so I would think that if you went a little shallower on in the weed's you would find a muskie or two. Any help or tips is appreciated. He's calling me everytime he pop's a pike so I'll hear back from him any second and relay your message. LOL!

Thank's

Small pike, likely no muskies around. Big pike, then generally good spot for muskies as well, one top shelf predator to another. Muskies have yet to transition there possibly?

Meaning what, they have not recovered from the spawn yet? Your talking to a southern idiot when it come's to fishing up north. LOL! Our Muskie's spawned two and ahalf month's ago. LOL!! He just popped another one, this one was 35 inch's. Some of the other's have been in the low 30 inch class as well. He said he had something blow up on a topwater but couldn't tell if it was a pike or muskie. If they haven't transitioned yet, what type of structure should he try? Out on the mud flat's or rock reef's?

Thank's again, I'm living vicariously thru him sitting at the house!! LOL!! He Suck's!! LOL!!

sounds like he's fishing the right stuff - Mille Lacs has been hit and miss for me so far this year and has yet to turn on like we want it to, not too many reports from the North End at all - i'd tell him to keep pounding the water and maybe, just maybe, he'll be there when they GO!!!!!

The north end doesn't really get consistent until mid/late July most years.

Thanks Guy's. I really appreciate any info. I've been passing along the info and he's tried some different stuff, but he's still popping pike. LOL I'd say the bluebird condition's aren't helping him out either. He's just going to keep at it and hope for a weather change and some Musky action. I'll keep you posted. He did get a walleye also. I guess there's a big walley tourney up there as well. They will probably catch the Muskie's. LOL He said he's staying until Tuesday, so hopefully he will get slimed.

Thank's again,
