Subject: digital photography and DPOF technology...

Greetings,

I have been using my Olympus SW720(shock and waterproof) for about 6 months now, and like it just fine. Photos, albeit not film quality, seem to be as good as other digital images I've seen, so all is ok there. I have printed many, but have run into some issues, one in particular. I cannot seem to get the date and time printed on the photgraphs. The manual and the camera say that I need to do a 'reserve print' and need a store or printer(which I have but refuse to pay for the high price cartridges when Wal mart or Walgreens can do it so much cheaper) with DPOF capabilities to get the date and time on the pics. Does anyone know of a photo processing center in central WI or a place where I can send a memory card to get pics printed with this data? If this continues to be a problem that I cannot solve, I think i'll buy another brand camera that is easier to get the date and time printed at any old printing center.

Thanks in advance,

Jason

I've been pretty happy with www.shutterfly.com for printing digital pictures. Uploading a bunch of pictures can be slow, but the turnaround time for getting the prints is really fast - just a couple of days.

I'm not sure about printing the time or date on the front of the picture, but you can get them printed on the back, as well as up to 80 characters of text. Typing a short description when ordering the prints beats the heck out of labeling them after the fact, especially when I'm printing a bunch of vacation pics.

I'd like to hear more about your SW720 experience, picture quality, ease of use, etc. PM me if you don't want to pollute this thread...
