I live in Nestor Falls during the summer. Crow Lake is a very deep (200+') gin clear Lake Trout Lake. It also has a very good muskie population, northern, smallmouth bass and whitefish. In a few weeks from now the Lake Trout will definitely be in their summer holes 90'-120'. Muskies will be out of the bays and in the main lake reefs, saddles, etc. It can be a tough bite during the summer for muskies. Early morning and evening is better. Crow Lake is high on water right now. The muskies are still spawning and good catches are being made. I think Crow is one of the most beautiful lakes in Ontario. You can drink the water right out of the lake. There are huge granite bluffs, numerous islands and a fine wildlife population. Even if you didn't catch muskies there you would enjoy it for its beauty. It's a bonus that the muskies in the lake are big. If you get tired of chasing them on Crow, you can have your camp owner put you on Lake of the Woods for more action. It's all there in Nestor Falls. I hope you enjoy your trip. Here is a typical muskie from Crow caught this past Saturday.

We will be targeting Muskie. I have heard the same about Crow being a tough lake . We will be fishing both Lake of the Woods and Crow. Hopefully we can find a few on Crow that even come close to the one in your picture. Great looking fish!
Thanks for the reply.

Good fish man! In a couple weeks I'll be mostly fishing Sab bay but I might have to head over there on a cloudy day and see what I can find. Like you said, the lake is so beautiful that catching a fish would just be a bonus.

GETTING EXCITED!!

Just to show you how deceiving pictures can be..... That fish was really weird. I had to measure it twice just to convince me it was only 46" X 20.5". It looked bigger in real life.

I'm no small guy at 6'5" and nearly 300 lbs, so it proves photo's can confuse you. We also caught a 44" that was freakishly girthy for a Crow muskie. It had a small head and a thick body all the way to the tail. Picture of my son and his fish below.

Yes, I pinch myself every morning just to prove I'm not dreaming. I'm thankful I didn't get what I deserve in life. (Just kidding)

As most of you know, I am always ready to show someone around LOTW as long as I don't have guests here with me. I love meeting new people and getting them familiarized with muskies on LOTW. Each year I meet and fish with 3 or 4 folks from the forums. A person can never have too many friends. Taking two new folks out tomorrow. Haven't met them yet. But will at breakfast. Can't afford to adopt you guys, but you're always welcome to a seat in the boat.

Bob, thanks for the advice on Crow and for sharing the pics...beautiful fish. As Semper mentioned, the fishing was kinda slow the last week. Seen lots of fish; including two verrry nice ones. We caught 9 out of our boat of three guys; biggest being 43". If anyone is thinking about fishing Crow, I would highly suggest it! As Bob mentioned, the lake itself is amazing without the muskies and once you see a Crow Lake musky in real life, you'll be addicted. They're the most beautiful muskies I've seen anywhere!!!
Bob, you mentioned one or two of the fish you caught were freakishly large...well, we had two in the boat that were the same way. One of them my dad and friend thought was mid-40's maybe even upper 40's, but I knew when I netted it that it wasn't even close to upper 40's and probably smaller than mid. It meausered 41 on the dot! The fish was huge though.
We'll be back again next year for the opener...Canada's such a great place!!! If anyone knows of a job up there for a college student during the summer, plleeeeease let me know!!!!!

Bob, it was very nice to meet you! We can't thank you enough for showing us the ropes. I will try to attach a photo of the fish largest one Dusty caught while we were with you. I caught one the next morning and then caught one on the Indian Chain that night. 2 lakes - SAME DAY! Catching and losing quite a few on Indian, lots of lookers.
Can't wait to get back LOTW this weekend,
Thanks again,
Jeff & Dusty
