On Monday June 18, 2007, Tom Gelb's 53" musky which weighed in at 51.2 pounds was put on display at George Langley's Eagle Sports Center in Eagle River. I'm sure you all remember Tom's BIG catch back on the last day of musky fishing in November 2006.

The day Tom brought this monster into my studio I honestly couldn't believe my eyes!! I cannot express to all of you, as well as to Tom, what an honor it was to have been chosen to mount this fish. Tom’s catch created a buzz from anglers of all ages. Some were supporters of the catch and keep, others were not. Regardless if you were a supporter or a non-supporter, the two most beneficial aspects of Tom's catch and keep are:

1.) Tom not only has a mount on his wall, but a memory and a story as well. This mount is one which we ALL are envious of.
2.) Because we were able to mold Tom’s catch, the fishing industry now has one of the largest real specimen molds, measuring out at 53 x 29, which can be used to save the lives of numerous fish for years to come.

I want to say “Thank You” to Tom as well as “Congratulations” on such a phenomenal catch. It couldn’t have happened to a more deserving individual. This was definitely a catch of a lifetime!

Wow, it almost looks fake... not the beautiful paint job but simply the size and girth of the fish. Unreal!

Congrats to Tom and Rick.
