looks like we had a good night last night.
4 fish caught.
fred and i had 5 fish on the move. we scored early at 5:40.with a nice healthy 42.5.fred got it up twice and i was lucky enough to get her to hit on the third pass.

lee's team scored shortly after but it was a hair short.(sorry lee)

i cant remember the exact sizes. but:
pepe scored
dave jonesi scored
and i can't remember who else caught one.

what did everyone else see?

cant wait til next week. moen chain.

Oneida Esox and I had a fun night, no fish that measured in the net but I did manage an undersized also. That makes two for our team, as Lee and Mike are our partners. Should be able to add them up. John had a real nice fish hit a 6” twitch bait, around a 40” class fish, but she didn’t stay pinned.

We moved one fish in the shallow weeds but it was just a looker the eaters came off drowned wood with steep breaks. All on small twitch/crank baits.

Best night of league our team has had in a long time. Maybe next week we can stretch the fish a little.

Danny, nice job on the big fish of the evening

Our team scored with a 39" thanks to Chris Nelson - he's a great all around stick!
The Rhinelander league for me has been a blast. Like I need one, but now I have another reason to fish during the week. Over the last two years I have met a bunch of great people that became friends. The friends that actually will share information, like Jonesi last night. Sled and I were fishing a weedline behind them and watched them catch their fish. Afterwards, Dave states there is an inside turn if you line up "these" two landmarks. That's great information for next time and years to come. Thanks Dave! O'ya when you have your snorkle ready, you know where Sled's dawg is tied up.

thanks mike.

the fish freddy and i moved were out in 8 to 10 feet. we did try up close to shore but saw nothing.according to my gps (i marked every follow) all of our fish were seen within 100 yards of each other.

i love the league cause everyone works together. like mike said.
also when people need info for other trips,to wherever , people help. i help people and have been helped as well. don't ever be afraid to ask.

some great sticks in this league and som very good people as stated before.

Andy and I moved a very good fish last night at about 7:00. We decided to camp on it the rest of the night. It was an upper forties fish, it tried to eat a bait four times, but I masterfully avoided it each and every time! This fish was set up just outside the weededge in about 6 foot of water. Believe me, I know the area intimately now!

Our partners boated one, unfortunately Keith couldn't squeeze an extra 3/4 of an inch out of it.

Good job on the fish Danny!

bn, how many boats do you guys have fishing the Mad Town league. And what kind of results are you getting down there as far as numbers of fish each night.

It’s a different type of fishing, but man you guys have a great fishery down there. I personally think that, as much as the Minn. fishery gets blamed for taking tourist dollars out of the hands of Northern Wisconsin, the awesome still developing fisheries of Madison, Milwaukee, and Green Bay are keeping people close to home and then when they take their week or two weeks of vacation they swing for the big fence and head to Northern Minn. and Canada. Just about every time I head to the Wisconsin Metro areas for work and if I get out fishing with either my cousin in Mad Town or Jlong in the Fox valley we catch fish.

If you just flat out want to catch fish there is no reason for you “Big City Folk” to head north for a weekend. Now if you want to get away from the people and traffic, that’s a different story.

Nail A Pig!

Mike

P.S. Danny, at the bottom of the reply page there is a box to check that says “Attach a file after posting” Check this box then submit your post. It will open a page where you can browse to your pictures and upload them into the post. They will need to be under 50K in size I think.

yup ... another league night down in the books. the highlight of my night was that i have now found a cheeseburger that rivals the ones cooked up at the Launching Pad in Shawano, Wisconsin (a strong contender, but i have found a better one) ... if anyone ever wants to have an absolutely outstanding cheeseburger ... stop in at the Town Pump on the south side of Highway 8 between hwy 51 and rhinelander .... wow!!!

so, crescent lake ... scored there last year and the year prior on known spots camping on fish. andy and i had a reasonable plan and just couldn't contact fish. we were on a point moving into a bay that i had never fished after working deeper water thinking that fish could be caught in the weeds ... this after watching two fish caught ... one that measured for musky bar and the other shortie from mike and lee. we weren't committed to the bay route when i got blinded by the distant reflection of the sun off of the cleanest, shiniest ranger i think there is ... jonesi's boat should be outlawed for the reflection it throws!!! ... so i'm moving through and find an inside turn going in and just as i move to follow it ... i look out and troys fish hammers the bulldawg ... so, i did see fish .... yeah, 3 fish caught and the one that we got to measure and help to release ... otherwise andy and i caught a fish crib and a crab trap and that's it. really dejected coming out of the water thinking the whole league caught fish but us and we got the call that Chris had scored a nice fish on Oneida for the team so spirits lifted and the beer was cold so all was good in the world once again. the "team" sport and the comraderie and sportsmanship shown on the water and in the meeting places afterward are great in this league and it's something i look forward to each week.

see you guys on the sewer next week!

remember i'll have Stealth Leaders with me each week ... standard leaders and the ones with glow beads ...

Mike
we have 9 teams, each team is just 2 guys, 1 boat...
We have had 3 weeks of league now and have 6 fish between the teams...with at least that many lost..
Last year you guys had some crazy tues nite weather seemingly each week as we did, which caused the numbers to be down..
I've been trying to get Sled down here on a weeknite..maybe you make it on a tues nite Sled and join us for a nite...the madison lakes are primed to kick out some big ones this year...the Leagues biggest in the net this year is 44" but that should surely be broken!

If anyone from your league is down here on a tues nite let me know they can hop in with me or another team no problem...

the leagues are growing and seem to be doing really well. tonight is the innaugural night of the minocqua musky league. in the first year it's going to be very low-key and condusive to just people that have the night to fish and want to fish for the what's in the jar. Rick at Rollie and Helen's is coordinating and i believe it's going to be on lake tom tonight ... first 20 with i think 5 or 10 bucks and then fish the night and meet up afterward.

so now ... i've got monday night eagle river league, tuesday rhinelander league and wednesday night minocqua league ... what a great way to meet people, learn water, compete and get out for a purpose!

i'll take you up on the madison visit before the year is over ...

we got a flash of one on crescent, with about 10 minutes left to go. couldn't get it to come back. other than that a slow night, we tried fishing a couple out of the way spots, thinking if we could find one fish it might hit? guess we should have went to the big weed beds and fight the crowds. oh well, live and learn, next week home waters, maybe we can get a hookup. maybe i shouldn't call it the home waters, sled calls it a sewer?

that's an endearing name for a shallow, weedy place that is just plain out of my element. we scored there before so i shouldn't be negative, but for some reason i just feel lost on moen's chain. i call it that to try to get norm and steve engaged in the conversation ... rumor has it that norm thinks my little piece of heaven is a sewer ... boom rocks!

The Moen has been really good to me over the last couple years, but League night seems to make me inept at keeping those shallow, crazy muskies pinned up. One night last year I lost three at the boat.... Some really good fish in that puddle; the flowage can kick out quality and numbers, and has virtually no pressure most weekdays.

Will the thrill,

I know you would be able to jump right in. There is one team of only two guys and probably would be glad to have you and your partner as there teammates. We have league tonight on the Moen Chain but we are meeting at Judy's Twin Pines bar on Highway C on the right side. If you come around 9pm tonight, you would for sure be able to get set up. Here is Dave Jonesi's cell number, he is our league president and willl be able to let you know what all you need to do. I believe all you and your partner would have to do is each of you would have to pay $50 and that covers you to fish the whole season. But give Dave a call, he will get you taken care of. Here's his number:715-482-0225.

Finally get to read this post, very very entertaining because we my friends are entertaining!! Sorry bout the blinding light show Jon:) Andy it is one of the better spots out there, fish it always!! I look so forward to every tuesday nite to get out fishing with all of these good people, learn and laugh for 12 weeks is the way it seems. Congrats to Norm Wild for popping the only fish caught on our week 3 Moens Lake adventure!! Very very tough bite on some waters right now, think I'll go fish some clear water!!! Three weeks down and here are some interesting numbers for everyone. On saturday the Mohawksin Musky Masters had their tourny out on Mohawksin, one 36 incher was caught by 42 anglers. On monday evening 2 fish were caught by the 96 anglers in Eagle River fishing their monday league on the Eagle Chain. Last nite all we could muster was the one fish that graced Norms boat, so 46 anglers fishing 4 hours each is 184 angling hours per fish!!!!???? Alot of league left to go best of luck to all.............. catch us if you can!!!!
