Hey guys, I need a little help. My son and I have been invited to stay a couple days on LOTW on the way home from our Indian Chain trip. July 1st & 2nd we will be on a island a mile out from Nester falls, one of the last islands with electricity & phone. I have no idea where that is but I am working on it!
Any general tips/lures for finding muskies in that area that time of year. Not looking for hot spots, just good sound starting advice. The friends we will be staying with are walleye/pike fisherman so they won't be much help.
We have never been to LOTW, we are looking forward to it!
Thanks,
Jeff

Jeff,
You will be staying in the Promised Land. Gohere Bay along with Wolf Island will take all your time. If it looks fishy, it is. My guess is that you'll be staying at Sabaskong Lodge. No need to run at all. Rocks and weeds. The backside of Wolf Island is one of my favorites. You can concievably drop the trolling motor and fish around the whole island. Topwaters, bucktails , spinnerbaits and 6" Reef Hawgs will catch 'em. Being that you won't have a ton of time, remember if you run 5 minutes you passed 5 spots. Have fun and good luck! Steve

Thanks Steve! We will be on a 15 acre private island that a friends grandfather bought (including a 4 cabin resort) in 1950 for $5000. He told me to put in at a resort in Nester falls and go 1 mile out to an island (I am getting the GPS cor'd). It will be our first time, sounded like a better idea than driving home the weekend before the 4th
We will drive home on Tuesday,
Have a great season,
Jeff
PS The U of Iowa seems like a lifetime ago doesn't it............................

Jeff:
Jonesi is right on about fishing close to the island. I have sent you a PM and an email. Send me the coordinates of the island. Hope to meet you while you are there.
