Posts: 199 Location: Sandusky, OH | All, Got out for the Detroit River opener this weekend, and the fish we found wanted very erratic baits, especially gliders that could be worked fast and all over the place, but within a foot or two of the surface. I have lots of drop-belly gliders, but they tend to run consistently and slowly; not a bad thing, just didn't help me this weekend. Looking for something that runs crazy like an unweighted sledge, but that won't pop up to the surface on every pause. Am I dreaming? How erratic do wabulls, baby wabulls, turmoils, etc. run? I want to hear about your ERRATIC gliders, not your erotic ones! Eric

the Wabull family. my experience with the Wabull is that it's best worked sloooww and erratic to get it down deep, except for that hyperspeed thing that Mr. Worrall does where he pops it along the surface before diving it down at the weed edge. if you want a bait that stays right in that 2' deep range even when worked quickly, the Baby Wabull will blow you away. it's erratic, it's erotic, it's a 6" perch that snorted some crack before taking a swim. http://www.muskiemojo.com

Posts: 291 Location: Minneapolis | A 6" phantom will go fast, slow, or any speed in between. They've got lots of belly roll, and you can get them to swing almost 180 degrees. You can work them a lot faster than 8" phantoms. I scored a pair of 36" tigers on a 6" phantom on Saturday, and a sky-rocketing 40" pure strain launched one back at me last night. A 6" reef hawg is even more erratic, so much so that I never know which way it's going to juke on a twitch.

Hard pressed to find a more erratic glider than a little Reef Hawg, or Jerko man. No doubt. Rogers Nitros are also sweet and the 7" is a particularily erratic lure. I liked the looks of my baby wabull, but no takers on it yet. Had to tone my taps down a bit with that one or it would hang on the leader. Definately will be good at some point, and I love the fact that it is plastic and nearly indestructable. this spring warmed a bit too quickly for me to give it a fair shake.

Posts: 127 Location: Brookfield | I have a ton of gliders. The only one I found that I can work super fast and not have it pop out of the water are Mantas. 8 inch or the hang tens are great lures. I like the 8 inch in spring and early fall and the hang 10 in fall. I also use hellhounds, phantoms, salmos, and dunright dancers but they dont do well at all with any amount of speed. They all seem to pop right out of the water when you hammer them. I run the mantas as fast as I can, put your rod tip down and slam and reel as fast as you can. You get an incredible side to side action. I have gotten some great reaction strikes this way. You will need to sharpen the factory hooks or replace them, THEY SUCK.
