I am looking to buy a new setup for throwing mag dawgs and other big baits and was wondering what you fellas use. I am going to buy a luna and was hopng to finish it off with a decent 8' rod. I have been looking at avids and figs, but most the rods that I have looked at are only rated for 6 oz lures.

Mag dawgs will probably be the biggest bait I will throw with this setup. I know they weigh more that 6 oz, but wondered if I could get by with a 6 oz rated rod. Anybody care to share any thoughts?

I have an 8' avid that absolutely launches mag dawgs.

best rod i think for bull dogs is a thorne bros. custom rod its a c series 8' heavy. great for mag dogs . Its around 170 or so. great rod though
