Posts: 25 | The one & only Tommy Wehler rocks. Guides some mean musky trips too if you can get him away from his BASS guitar and off the road. He don't hire out to just anyone these days and is never online but if your the right type you might get him to show you some of his magic. If you have kids he really enjoys showing them fun stuff about the lake and its fishes. Anytime is a good time on sweet Vermilion as the two goofs above mention. Got get ya some Range Fever. HOLD on tight as the big bugs bite as much as the fish with high rain drips. With water up first time in three years you can bet things will be a hopping and a poppen come sunset at the fire. Zap - zip -ouch Enjoy! Wizzer!

Posts: 376 Location: Lake Vermilion Tower, MN | Hi Guts, Like the other guys have said, there is no such thing as a bad time to come to Vermilion. However! If I had to pick the best time it would be between the moon phases of July and August. Numbers wise it's the best if you go by my log book. We generally have the most consistent weather patterns in that part of the summer. Not alot of big cold fronts like we are getting now. Unfortunately, it is also the hight of the summer tourist season, so expect a little extra boat traffic, especially if you stay on the west end. Turnover never comes until around the 2nd week in October, so a late September or early October trip can go either way. It just depends on the kind of weather we get. It could be in the 60's, or it could be in the 30's you just never know. FYI, The Hartman tourny is the 19th and 20th of July this year. I would expect that we will see a number of those guys up here pre-fishing in July. It might be a good idea to wait until August, if you can. Enjoy your vacation! I prommis, You won't be dissapointed, no matter what time of the summer you come to Beautiful Lake Vermilion. ![]() "Ace"
