Location: ontario canada - Well Anderson Indiana now | I have way too much weight on the stern of the boat so I was considering moving my cranking battery and one trolling battery up to the bow, they would basically sit about 3/4 of the way up on the boat. I'll secure them down nicely but I'm mostly concerned about the constant battering (no pun) they'll take being in the front of the boat.
Does anybody have any thoughts, suggestions, concerns?? |

| Both the trolling batteries in my boat are in that exact location. I have never had any problems with them...at least none that can be attributed to their location. |

Location: Athens, Ohio | The cranking battery will draw more juice at once than the trollers, if you re-locate it so far from the motor you may lose some power. Be sure to use heavy guage wires and such to reduce loss. m |

Location: ontario canada - Well Anderson Indiana now | Good point Mikie, the battery will be moved about 8 feet forward so will that cause that much of a drop in amperage? I guess I'll need to determine the current guage I'm wired up with before we can answer that question.
thanks |

FYI it's not amperage drop that will get you, it's voltage drop in the cable because of the increased resistance. The starter will still want the same current/amperage. However, the voltage drop reduces the effective power at the starter.
