I know this is nit-picking, but there is no proof a muskie bit the kid. According to the article he never saw what bit him. Could have been a turtle for all I we know. Muskies get enough bad press as-is. the last thing I want to hear in a bar is how these fish are man eaters.

Posts: 214 Location: Central Iowa | to me it seems his ankle isn't as tore up as I thought it would be from a muskie...it pretty much looks like one gash...for all we know he cut it on a rock!

Posts: 128 Location: ontario canada - Well Anderson Indiana now | I agree with crackpot, I got my hand stuck in a pikes mouth once and didn't end up with one long cut trust me. Unless this musky has one overgrown tooth I'm thinking a clam shell or something sharp in the water.

Posts: 480 | Hold on here, now no one has heard the alleged muskie's side of the story. Maybe the fish was taunted. A fish can only take so much dangling. I hope the muskie has a good lawyer. Was the fish in the boy's territory or the other way around? The fish may have been reacting the only way it knows how to protect family. I hope the boy is ok and that everyone learns something from this episode.

Posts: 1769 Location: Algonquin, ILL | The Whole story is just a plant by the Anti-Muskie folks to have Muskie's removed from "THIER" walleye lakes. First the Muskie's eat all "THIER" walleye's now the Muskie's bite children, Muskie's are just plain evil and must be removed By the way, what color bathing suit was he wearing ? Posts: 223 Location: Victoria,MN | I have never been a big fan of tatoos , piercings or pain fetish's but--a firetiger pattern foot tatoo with split rings pierced on the toes and achilles(ouch) might get a big gurl ----or a muskie to bite.

Posts: 786 Location: Minnesota | I saw the bite on TV and it looked a lot more like a walleye bite than a muskie bit :}
