I'm camping at Baker Park Reserve the first week of June. I'll be bringing the boat up and would like to get some musky fishing in. Any suggestions as to lure types and color would be great. I have maps and the MN Muskie boat, so have an idea of some locations to go to. Also, any help on fishing the other species in the lake would be great.
Thank you.

Fish SHALLOW. I have had luck with Black/Chartrusse or Black/Orange.

If you aren't finding the fish shallow try a couple of the humps on the lake. Don't forget to pitch jigs near docks and boatlifts. Good luck!

Get on top and stay on top.

The lake is small enough that you can slap on a tail spinning topwater and go. Try the far end of the lake first and then work your way back toward the landing.
Hint - They reeeallly seem to like Bullfrog topraiders.

The metro muskie tournament will be sat 6-9 ,,,Indy is one of the lakes involved,,,Since your there for a week before hand you may figure out the hot pattern and have some fish targeted and may want to enter,,only $40 entry

Thanks for the help. I'll be up with the family so hopefully I'll be able to get some early morning fishing in before everyone gets up during the week.

Happy Hooker, Unfortunately, well not really, the main reason for the trip is a couple triathlon races I'm doing. The first weekend I'll be racing at Buffalo Lake and then the weekend of the tournament I'll be actually racing at Lake Independence/Baker Park Reserve. Figured if I'm going to be up there two weekends in a row, might as well make a camping trip out of it.

Why do all the tri-athletes get nervous when pacemakers and bulldawgs are flying around them, I guess I will be getting yelled at a again by some one on a bull horn telling me that there is contest again on the lake. Swim, bike, and run, what a waste of time, theres is musky in those waters, all those swimmer might get the topwater bite going.
