I'm getting ready to install another stereo in my boat and have a question. With my old stereo, whenever I was listening to AM radio and used the trolling motor there was interference as long as the trolling motor was used.

It didn't happen listening to FM radio or cds. I wired the stereo directly to the starting battery and also wired it into an accessory switch on the console & there was interference both ways.

So is there some kind of flux capacitor or something I can install to eliminate the interference ?

We used to have the same problem with car radios and AM stations until they developed the "resistor" spark plugs. Best advice, forget AM radio! You can get your Rush rush driving home. Otherwise, ask the dealer or mfg. what you can use to retrofit. m

The AM noise rejection in todays radios isn't as good as older units. You can also check with your local car audio shop to see what they can do. There are filters that can get rid of some interferences.

Thats what makes AM so fun. My car only has AM and if I find the right station...it broadcasts my engine...only it sounds like an indycar engine rather than a carburated v8.

"FLUX CAPACITOR" are you going Back to the Future ?

Try Radio Shack or other Automotive Electronics store there are filters available ( Not sure of what they are called )

Note: AM radios are great Lightning detectors, just find a weak station and listen for the static, you can hear the crackle of the lightning long before you even see the storm

Forget AM radio? How am I supposed to listen to the Bears?

I did go to a Radio Shack but all I got was a blank stare - I guess I'll try a car audio shop. Thanks for the replies
