| Looking at mercs and yammys in this motor. is the efi in the merc worth it, or the proven technology of the carbed yammy? i need help. also how fast will these motors push a 1750 fishawk tiller. will the efi make the merc faster? |

| 2 factors here with the EFI. Starting and Fuel efficiency. The 2002 Merc is all Merc, with EFI. Mercs EFI is proven technology. Great starting, and better fuel efficiency. Plus, you can add the system monitor and/or SmnartCraft gauges, as this motor has the ECM 555 engine control module.
For me, this would be a no-brainer. Merc all the way. Hope this helps.

| Here’s my thoughts based limited hours. Last year I put about 40-50 hours on a 60 Merc 4-stroke. It ran flawlessly and was a great motor. Due to some lucky circumstances they replaced my motor with this years EFI model. I put the first three hours on it yesterday. There is a noticeable difference in throttle response between the carbureted and EFI. My new EFI builds rpm a lot quicker than the old carbureted. Can’t comment on fuel efficiency diffs yet. Haven’t had her wide open for top speed, but she quickly got her rpm’s up. Other than that the motor sounds the same, idles at the same speed, and it's still MADE IN USA.
Have fun
